And that’s me done for preseason

Probably the best conditioning I’ve seen the squad in since I’ve been attending training.

There’s a bit to look forward to this season albeit we’ll lose more than we win and there’ll be the occasional shellacking when things come completely unstuck

Stay positive, take the good with the bad as the players learn the new game plan and Mini identifies what he has to work with. Some will thrive, others will fall away but one thing I’m sure of is that the effort and desire to compete and improve will be there

Onwards and upwards, enjoy the season

Or, just maybe, he's an angry dickhead. Let's not rush to his defence because he's 'one of ours'.

There's no doubt footballers would catch more lip than the average bloke but I still managed to go my entire adulthood without getting into a fight. It's very easy to walk away when you don't have an oversized ego. The one exception I might give is racial abuse, something I've never had to deal with, but that's obviously not the case here.

By the exact same token, how about we dont rush to hang him on a short video clip with no context

I don't care enough to rush to judgement, I don't think there's much to it. But anyone who gets into a fight for any other reason than someone has attacked them or someone has attacked someone else has likely made a poor judgement call.

Easier said than done.
Look we all been there, few drinks and someone always wants to take the title.

But Liam isnt 18, he should have enough sense or good enough mates around him to pull him away and keep it moving. And whatever the context is, it doesnt matter.

It brings attention and questions him, his worth to the team and to a wider extend the club. Hopefully, nothing comes of it and footy just gets started so these bullshit discretions are all forgotten about.

As someone who has lived in regional WA for large chunks of my life I really doubt it was self defence from an incident that flared up that night.

Very likely it’s feuding between families and it’s a square up for something Liam has done or that the other bloke has done to a member of Liam`s family. Very likely it’s family related somehow.

Can’t guarantee that but if i was betting that’s what i would put my money on.
Played with a couple of the krakouer brothers and was outside Subi oval in the carpark when they both ran past, said a quick hi to me and kept running through the parked cars with about 10 blokes in hot pursuit.

Bit surreal that they both acknowledged me whilst being chased, but apparently the feud was long standing and they were pretty used to it.

Mind you, one of them was a bit lazy back of centre and its a shame he never ran that fast or far into defence.

It’s not about self defence it’s a mutual fight. This stuff would go on regularly between these families. This time Liam has got caught up in it

Anyway I’m not going to comment any more on it it’s a tough one to explain to people that haven’t grown up watching this stuff.

For all your experience with regards to this you remain very ignorant to the fact that context will be everything. May have just had himself or partner physically threatened, or anything. Might not have wanted to be in the fight but also might not have wanted to be king hit while walking away.

Sure, could be at fault but none of us know how he found himself in that face up. Hopefully he wasn’t wanting to get there but had to for whatever reason. Seen plenty enough scraps to know it can totally happen like that too

Business as usual for the time being

Dan Rioli and Bolton were involved in a scuffle either last year or the year before and from memory weren’t penalised

As far as street fights go, this one seems quite civilised- 1v1, no king hits from behind, no wrestling to the ground etc. Just two blokes facing each other throwing some fairly innocuous blows that mostly miss

Simmo's cuddles out....

The big bad eagles back........... Number 5 bookmarked for 2029.

I’m guessing the “city folk are soft” brigade are the same types that say footy is also soft these days 🙄 cause the heros of yesteryear where tough guys that would cheap shot blokes behind the play and get called the best players of all time, looking at you Matthews. Modern day players are bigger, stronger and play at a speed that make the actual in game, legitimate hits way harder than any of the old bush league days. Bit off topic, carry on.

We don't know who started what.

So not sure how anyone can say if it is or isnt self defense. We don't know.

We don't know what stage of the exchange the footage started, what happened prior to the camera recording. Etc.

I saw some fairly heavy haymakers being thrown at Liam, which thankfully all appeared to miss the target. Would hate to go a few rounds with Keys if these are just innocuous punches in his book.
