And that’s me done for preseason

Probably the best conditioning I’ve seen the squad in since I’ve been attending training.

There’s a bit to look forward to this season albeit we’ll lose more than we win and there’ll be the occasional shellacking when things come completely unstuck

Stay positive, take the good with the bad as the players learn the new game plan and Mini identifies what he has to work with. Some will thrive, others will fall away but one thing I’m sure of is that the effort and desire to compete and improve will be there

Even though the scratch match on Monday was apparently filmed with an early 2000s Nokia phone and it was hard to pick out which team was which, I had no trouble making out which player was Bailey Williams. I’ve never seen such an unco player at AFL level. We need a better ruck option imo.

Both he and Flynn have aspects to them that are decent but overall just really not adequate at AFL level. It’s funny considering how blessed we’ve been in that area.

Even Jono Giles looked a more competent ruckman

We've done alright with getting back up rucks in the past. Vardys,giles etc
Flynn would be great in that capacity.
We just don't have that clear 1st ruck ala cox or naitanui. And that doesn't look like changing anytime soon

Flynn’s a terrible back up ruck. A backup ruck has to offer something as a forward or back which Flynn offers neither

Flynn is an underwhelming 1st ruck

I wonder if there is any hope Archer Reid could develop into a first choice ruck? Not this year obviously. But going forward. Or is going to be another forward that chip in in the ruck for 5 - 8 mins at a time.

Archer-J.Williams is a real possibility moving forward.

very likely that they both become FWD/RUCK options to back up a 1st choice ruck when we find 1, already showing decent signs and doesn't look good for Flynn or BW if they do take that role
