GABBA Update

The Brisbane Bears are just about to hold a important press conference about the gabba:

reynolds:
today the brisbane bears "officially" bought the Gabba, surrounding parkland and sporting ovals off the QLD government. the deal was sealed about 24hours ago. we wopuld like to announce the following changes:

changes to the gabba:
1: all grandstands will be slowly pulled down and rebuilt.
2: the capacity will go well over the 70,000 poeple mark
3: the grounds name will be changed to the XXXX oval

Changes to the sourounding area:

1: a massive carpark will be built, it can hold up to 15,000 cars at anyone time and fee's will only be $7 allday $3.50 half a day. Fees will become free when ground debt is paid off.

2: a brand new cricket facility wil be built to hold 50,000 people. this will be used to hold INTERNATIONAL cricket matches. it will also have a roof that can close to avoid rain delays.

3: a tennis center will be built, this will help our rising tennis guns to become stars.

4: a $10million entertainment center will be built to host all the biggest concerts, musicals,plays all at the 1 time.

5: we have also signed a 10 year deal which will c Australias biggest Live Music festival the big day out play at this new entertainment complex.

All Complexs are 100% licensed.

Finally this is how the total $$$ will be spread

90% - federal government

8% - state government

1% - AFL

1% - Brisbane Bears

Saints condemn Bears plan

St Kilda football club tonight has condemned the Brisbane Bears plan for a 'mega complex' as 'ludicrous' and 'unrealistic'.

"Reynolds is a mad man. There is no way that the federal government will give them this money. They will go broke." retorted Dascman.
"If he honestly thinks that he can get so much money from both governments, well then, hes got no idea of politics."
"Doing something like that is like me getting all my players to train on a space station on the moon. It just wouldnt happen."
Mr. Dascman has urged the government to block this proposal.
"We might as well just build mega centres in the bush and for every club in Australia. Then the government will be well and truly broke."
Dascman also added that he doesnt know where the Bears got the money to buy the ground in the first place.
"There is also no way that they could have afforded to buy the GABBA originally. So there may be some illegal activity around."

Josh Francou has been ruled out for the entire 2004 season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament at training this morning. He will be placed on the long term injury list. A rookie (Joel Patfull, Wade Champion, Salim Hassan, Wade Champion) is expected to be promoted to the senior list prior to the start of the season.

The AFL asks all clubs to choose 1 country/international venue for a practice match (probably but not necessarily their own) to be played. The other venue will be chosen by the AFL once all clubs submit their venues.

We have yet another trade blunder.

Amon Buchanon was traded to Collingwood for Steve McKee in the 2nd trade period.

BUT in the first trade peridod AMon was traded to Melbourne.

The Collingwood FC would like to advise the AFL on what has happend and wishes to know what course of action they will take to rectify the situation.

ANOTHER BLUNDER BY THE AFL!!!

The Melbourne Football Club is furious with the AFL after a 4th blunder regarding player lists.

Rookie Brett Jones was mysteriously put on West Coast's list when he is a Melbourne listed player.

The other Melbourne listed players who have also had this problem are Ben Holland, Callum Urch and Amon Buchanon.

Melbourne president Rob Lloyd is wanting some sort of compensation from the AFL.

" The first time it was acceptable as it was meant to be a one off mistake, the second time was stupid, the third was annoying and this fourth time has made me question whether the correct people are in charge of the AFL. The Melbourne Football club demand some compensation as this has been embarrassing for the players who have been unaccurately placed at two clubs."

On the team lists in my possession, Amon Buchanan is not on any list and Brett Jones is not on any list.

The AFL suggests clubs be careful with their trading until all issues have been resolved.

Gary: The Adelaide Football Club (AFC) are wanting answer from the Australian Football Leauge (AFL) over this latest trade period.
How many bloody trade preiods are we going to have like come on people we had one trade period which was normal then we had a second one which was ok to help the people who had just come into the game but to have a bloody third one you must be out of your mind Rizzo.
The AFL has also gone against team's wishes on weather to have another trade period after more people voted NO to the tarde period i think the AFL only thinks about itself and no one else being the idiots that they are.
Just when this competion is going good the AFL has to muck it up and throw another twist to the game by having another trade period

The AFC wants answer from the AFL and will not be happy until something is done.

its non compulsory and it was used so ppl who were away during period 2 (mainly West Coast and Melbourne) to have a little bit more of a fair go, to be honest i really dont give a root if ppl dont trade, it was just used to even up the competition

This trade period occured due to blueworms and myself missing the second trade period as we were on holidays.
