Amazing ain't it?

Hours before the team flies out - says he needs a minor ankle op but will be back at full tilt for pre-season training in 2 weeks time.

Couldn't miss the end of season trip to Ibiza could we Lloydy?

If they don't want to play - just say it not fudge around the edges. You're right it's just like the annual ooh I've twanged a hammy/groin/knee/left testicle (but I'll be OK in a week) State of Origin time again.

I agree with sabre, all comments on this thread display gross ignorance and bias.

For one, Essendon pre-season training doesn't start until November 13, that's 5 WEEKS, not 2, as someone has previously stated.

If I were a club administrator, I would be very annoyed if a person I were paying big bucks to, was injured playing a game that means very little in the scheme of things.

Some of you will probably argue that, had this injury occurred during the football season, he would have continued to play. You would be right. However, had this injury occured during the Ansett Cup, he would not have played.

Yes, performing for your country would be an honour, and I'm sure he (Lloyd) sees it that way. However, you have to remember, who he is obligated to.

I don't think thses games are meaningless in the scheme of things at all. Lat year 45,000 went to Football Park (the biggest Football park crowd of the year) and 64,000 went to the MCG.

I can't control what Lloydy does, but I would sure as hell want to play.

Why didn't Lloyd have his ankle 'fixed' after the GF instead of deciding a day before they hop on the plane?

Can't defend the indefencable - it's not like it's even a major operation. Just a scrape and cleanup job and you can be back playing in a week. Hardly even call it an injury.

Just cheapens the IR series is what get's my goat. It will go the way of the SOO if antics like Lloyd's & Farmers continue unchecked by the AFL.

What would EJ think? - lloydy didnt go to ibiza

and who cares what EJ thinks, with all respect to him and his family, he is the most overrated football person ever

and im disapointed that lloydy isnt playing, but he didnt pull out, from what ive heard and read, he wanted to play but the selectors wouldnt let, if you read the article on the bomber website it says that football manager matthew drain was told by all-aust selectors that lloyd was out of the team, or words to that effect

Walshy,

I heard he's actually having ankle surgery. So its not as if he's just said : "Hey, I'm sore. I'm not playing"

He's going under the knife today. Why would he train with the team for all this time if he had no intention of playing ? He has always represented Victoria (and relished it), so why wouldn't he feel the same for Australia ? I think we should be wary before criticizing him.

Tosser... just so none of your followers get it wrong...
