He's certainly not quick.

After Stewart out last week and playing an injury-hit Saints and Essendon, we're the ones who are kissed on the dick now.

If we had Peatling, Rachele and a Murray not coming back from injury then we'd be kissed on the pp.

Wow Hogan and Daniels not in our forward line definitely hurts.
Riccardi, Cadman and Stringer is still a pretty decent tall forward set up but our smalls are gonna have to do the damage. Ricca and Cadman haven't really taken over a game yet.
I reckon this game is gonna be pretty even. Crows so good when they get their tails up and have so much scoring power.
I think Briggs is the key for us against O'Brien...and like always Greene.

Still wish we had Cumming over XO 😅

I understand it, he’s definitely next man up, but the benefit of getting Peatling was to push Berry and his fumbles out of the 23

He’s probably sub (if Nicks’ comments about Taylor are anything to go by), so I’m fine with it

I’d prefer to see Dowling given a crack at some meaningful midfield minutes. I know where Berry’s at and what his ceiling is and my strong view is that we should be selecting with more an eye for assessing our list than if we’ve got any chance at success this year.

I also know that is the opposite view of the club and the reality given jobs and legacies are on the line.

What did Sloane say?

I was a couple of mimosas in and might have snuck a few in after, so forgive me if I get it a touch wrong. But he reckoned 4 talls is fine it’s just that we need to play a hard pressure player with them and that Murphy would be an in this week. He also seemed genuinely shocked that other panel members could think that not every 10 goal win is a great performance.

Tips into our favour
Can’t see Cadman holding the fort just yet

With Muz back and Butts completing his tick offs, I reckon covering KPFs is less a problem than handling the smalls. Obviously the higher quality player that misses is advantageous, but not so much if we don’t change selection to match oppo side.

GWS are still a good, contending side. They will beat good teams without Hogan.

Should be a competitive game though.

They certainly are. But there aren't any excuses for us, if we want to play finals. Geelong had their AA defender out last week, GWS have their AA forward out this week. Not going to get better chances to take scalps at home.

Geez, I didn't realise Hogan was an out. I gather that is a today call. Could be the difference.

Strange as it seem I reckon Daniels is the bigger out against this Crows team. The defence for all its many deficiencies actually copes relatively okay-ish against the bigger marking forward types like it did with Ben King against the Gold Coast, it’s more the tall mobile types that find mismatches and exploit them.

Daniels however is that quick half forward that pushes high up into the midfield that this current team that plays Laird and Milera in those half back roles would’ve had no answer for.

Yep but Peatling is out so he’s next best thing

Peatling was absolutely a need and has changed our dynamic

💯

If can't beat genuine sides with key players out, no point falling into Finals anyway.

Need to win tomorrow with Hogan and Daniels out.

Market is saying we lost last week due to being gassed by 5 day break off Queensland humidity

If we believe that then it’s our chance to prove that this week

We have had an extra three days and they played in the hottest of the 4 days of Gather Round.

And Hogan is now a massive out.

Hogan out is huge imo as best forward in the AFL.

So compared to our last game against GWS the following are missing - Scholl, Murphy, Dowling, Himmelberg, Hamill, Cook, Butts and Rachele

Who has come in - Tilthorpe, Crouch, Milera, Cumming, Neal-Bullen, Worrell, Curtin and Draper

Think it is evidently clear - we are stronger side tomorrow.

They will be missing Daniels, Hogan, Cognilio, Aleer, Cumming and Perryman replaced by Darcy Jones, Stringer, Cadman, Taylor (a massive in), Wehr and O’Halloran.

I would have thought they are slightly weaker.

Bottom line is they have more significant outs than us, coming off a smaller break & we are at home.

If we don't win tomorrow, it's unlikely we play finals.

GWS are a quality side, but we need to win these games.

Nicks may as well start looking for a new job if we lose.

I think we have seen what we will get from Murphy over the past 5 years.
Not the point. Point is, he got one game this year then dropped. Sholl has been gifted three (the first two he earned). Whether it’s Nicks pulling the strings or someone else is irrelevant at this point… the strings ARE being pulled.
