Overview:
Welcome to the Round 14 Thursday Night Blockbuster Round 13 Sunday Night Primetime Blockbuster between the 2018 AFL Premiers the West Coast Eagles and the 2017, 2019 & 2020 AFL Premiers the Richmond Tigers. Despite the two clubs winning the past four AFL premierships between them and providing BigFooty with some of the Saltiest banter between supporter bases in recent years (See: The Main Board)--- the AFL hasn't always seen this match as a BLOCKBUSTER.

But this Sunday night it will change when the two clubs feature in the iconic Sunday night time slot in front of a TV audience that may or may not be still locked down at home with nothing better to do with their time than watch some high quality football.

What was originally going to be the first game of Round 14 with both clubs well rested from their mid-season holidays and the bye is now the final game pre-bye. How this change in preparation will effect both clubs is yet to be seen, but it's possible that both sides will tire early on the hard Optus Stadium surface with the game turning into a slog fest in the second half.

Did you know?
The grounds people at Optus Stadium use "Anti Dew Spray". No-- it's not to keep the Gold Coast Coach away from the ground, but a spray used to make the grass less slippery for players.

Teams: TBC

  • Tim Kelly, Josh Kennedy, Oscar Allen, Jarrod Brander & Brendon Ah Chee all missed WCE's Round 12 game from injury. No reports (as of time of submission) of whether any will return for R13.
  • Brad Sheppard will likely miss after a head knock against Carlton where he was subbed off with concussion
  • Dion Prestia was subbed off late against Essendon but trained on Sunday so is a possibility for lining up for Richmond
  • Kane Lambert is an expected IN for Richmond after training well
  • Hardwick has suggested Nankervis is progressing quicker from injury than expected, but more likely to return after the bye
Updated Injury list

Thanks caddyshack

The club updated the injury list today.
It doesn't look like Nank will get up. :(

Would like Ben Miller to come in. Given Nic Nat's presence not just in the air but at ground level, they surely can't consider playing MP50 in the ruck again. 4 way rotation between Miller, Balta, Chol and CCJ.

In: Miller, Lambert
Out: Prestia, Rioli

Broad Miller Grimes
Vlastuin Balta Short
McIntosh Cotchin Baker
Edwards Riewoldt Aarts
Graham CCJ Castgna
Chol Bolton Martin
Dawkins Lambert Pickett Houli
Caddy

Doesn’t work unless one of Miller or Lambert is the sub (because Rioli was the sub).

Richmond looked good last night and building towards the pointy end.

I wish i could come in with bants - but i think we will be pantsed.

We're not taking anything for grants.

We've gotta be in the right space for this game/ Eagles are mush better at home. But we've played the ground and have learnt a few things - like it's slippery.

Reckon we can stop their ball movement and score against them. Nic Nat will test our ruck set up - Marlion V Nic Nat will be hilarious (We really can't use that trick)

We arent playing good football - last night looked like a wafl game.

Sheps out and we have one a grade mid out there whos underdone, an a minus and a b plus then the rest are wafl mids.

Richmond will wear us down and after a quarter or two the dam wall will break.

I would drop Houli as he's been down all year. If Mansell is available he should play before him.
Pickett shouldn't be allowed to go up in the ruck as it's actually hurting us now. He shouldn't also be allowed to enter deep in the BL as he gives away too many soft free kicks. His best work is done around the wings and forward of these.
Watching the Eagles yesterday I really wasn't impressed with them and I think we should get the points. I'M still concerned with our outside line breaking speed in the middle and the elite Bolton is the the only player breaking the lines for us. He was clearly BOG against the Bombers, but a pedestrian stats racker was awarded it by somebody who's obviously lost any sense of the game.
I thought Flossy came good late in the last half and he was starting to look like the player before the knock he received in the GF.
