Priddis Exposed?....

Selwood is a better offensive mid than Priddis but plays as a tagger because Priddis can't. That weakens our team.

I would rather we find a quick tagger and release Selwood - which has been shown to help Kerr. The midfield in the second half had Selwood on Pav and Schammer on Kerr which left the freer mids as Hill/Hasleby v Priddis/Rosa - how did that work out?

We are seeing Rosa & Priddis leading our stats in losing efforts on a regular basis and people patting them on the back because "well, at least they got it" but they have no hurt factor and today, Priddis in particular was run off over and over again - Hasleby showed what a top line slow, inside mid should do - its a fair bit different to what Priddis offers.

To be honest I just don't we have enough talent in the midfield yet. We really need Masten to improve and Swift to come in. Cockie wasn't too bad either.

Priddis is one dimensional (but good at that) which isn't a problem when you have the other bases covered.

At the moment our midfield is too defensive.

So whats your solution?

We can't build a midfield with Priddis as a key component unless Priddis can tag.

Therefore we need to build it some other way.

As we havent seen enough of our players inside because of the time domination of Priddis its hard to figure exactly how best to structure it.

Logic suggests that Kerr & Selwood as attacking mids works best (see our wins) and then - assuming someone needs to be tagged we give someone else a go at that (others may know better who can tag from our younger group).

Obviously, going forward, one imagines that Masten, Cockie, Shuey, Swift, Ebert & S Selwood are all big chances.

I think we need to understand that Priddis and Rosa are unlikely to be important players in a premiership midfield and then the decision is, do we protect the kids or throw them in?.

Honestly, you put a decent kid who has speed and damaging disposal in that midfield and that will release some pressure on Kerr - at present he is the only mid (when Selwood tags) that our opponents worry about.

Masten was good today. Went in hard and linked up well. Showed good foot skills too
Then disappeared as usual.

If Whoosh rates him, why isnt he in the guts?

Is it too defensive or is it just too poor offensively?

Thats the issue.

We have 2 players mids who have really hurt opponents this year. Kerr & Selwood. One gets tagged by the other team and the other gets taken out by us using him as a tagger.

Priddis cant tag and he cant hurt with his disposal. He also cant run. He is a negating offensive mid i.e. he cant really defend but his skillset is not useful offensively..... it makes him a liability overall.

Thats why he needs to be pushed aside to allow the next generation to develop in the middle, rather than on flanks and pockets...

Agreed.... and

...agreed.

Woosh does rate him but always seems cautious in throwing young blokes in the midfield. Surely telling him to work Hill just as hard the other way would have been handy.... as he tires though his disposal falls away dramatically.

But if Selwood and Kerr already have too much on their plates asking them to win the clearance battle might be a bit much.

Priddis
Kerr
Selwood

These three names come up over and over again. But i'm sure our midfield consists of more then 3 players. Where is everyone else?

There is a role to for Priddis is play in our current and future midfield. The current focus should be on developing a tagger to free up Selwood and some more offensive mids to compliment Kerr. Having a clearance specialist would help rather then hinder that.
