See, that's exactly my thoughts too. When it's a better, more even midfield his performances are better because he doesn't have to be the creative playmaker to spark the team.

Not knocking him, just when Wellingham was in there, then Masten attacked and Scooter did his bit, they couldn't concentrate on all. One thing Priddis will give you is 100% all the time, he just can't be the number 1, IMO.

I actually wasn't trolling. Im serious about this. I have been on the Eagles website. Both Priddis and Masten both average 26 disposals this season. I dont know if Luke shuey is an inside mid for your team but he is averaging 22 disposals this season.

Still I'm surprised with the Priddis bashing on here.

That's the problem with basing an argument on statistics. Whilst Priddis and Masten both average the same amount of possessions per game, Masten is close to being WC's B'n'F this season, whilst Priddis has been his usual solid but structure disrupting self. Same amount of possessions between the two, but big difference in quality of play.

I only saw parts of the game so can't really comment other than to say footy classified showed some vision of bombers players chasing and their efforts made ash smith look like Brett Kirk when it comes to effort

Heh, yeah that one where priddis gave it to gaff who gave to priddis and then back to gaff with absolutely no chasing from the bombers players whatsoever was laughable.
 
Coaches award votes in. Priddis gets 7. Just keeps racking them up doesn't he fellas...most inconvenient.

Interesting that neither coach gave Wellingham a vote. Would have thought he was worthy of votes personally, but not at the expense of the great man.

I'm surprised Priddis doesn't win the Brownlow every year. He is such a great player and a great guy.

Always stuns me as well. Masten doesn't actually get big clearance numbers, he is much more an outside player. We are not however short of clearance options as each of Shuey, S.Selwood, Kerr and Hutchings put up decent clearance numbers in addition to Priddis being 2nd in the competition (I think we are 3rd in clearances in the league). In addition, Shuey has one of the best "clearances to score involvements" ratios in the AFL (in fact I think he might of finished 1st in this category in 2011 or 2012).

False. I think you'll find Priddis will go very very close to winning our B&F this season. There will only be three games where he won't poll well - Port (injured early on); Richmond (was horrible); and Gold Coast (didn't play) - every other game you'll find he will be amongst our best players. To change your comparison slightly - same amount of possessions but Priddis wins a much greater share of his in contested situations. I would have Kennedy and MacKenzie just ahead of him but Priddis should beat Masten comfortably (actually I think Masten might finish 5th as Darling will surprise with how highly his 'quiet' games are rated by the coaches and may nab 4th or even 3rd).
 
Priddis usually does well in the club best and fairest. His eighth place last year was his worst finish for several years with seconds (one only on because he played more games for the same number of points as the winner) in the two previous years.
 
So, let me get this straight.

He consistently polls high in the Brownlow... so the umps think he's good.
He constantly gets picked in the side... so the match committee are happy with him.
He gets B.O.G votes from ABC radio on the weekend... so the media (including ex players) think he's good.
He get coaches votes... so the coaches think he's good.
He finishes high in our B&F each year... so our own club thinks he's good.

Obviously the BigFooty Eagles board is the only bastion of truth these days, and everyone else - Our match committee, our coaching staff, other AFL coaches, the media, and the umpires - are completely delusional.

Gotcha.
 
I think we should organise an annual football match with Pro and Anti Priddis members of this board. The winner gets not only the braging rights but they get to be right for the next 12 months.

We can repeat this game on a annual basis and raise money for charity? In absence of playing an actual game maybe someone can recommend a virtual online game :) that we can use to resolve this.

I'm in. If the actual match falls through, then I suggest AFL live on PS3/Xbox/PC... would require a MASSIVE LAN though :p
 
Wellingham kicked a couple of nice goals, but he also had several horrendous turnovers, some of which resulted in opposition scores. Not surprised he wasn't in the coaches votes.

If he learns to play within his abilities, he may actually be a useful depth player for a few years. He seems to be deluded into thinking he has the skills of Gary Ablett or Darren Jarmen sometimes though.

Go check the AFL website for clearance numbers. Why do you need one guy clearing the ball when you can have four or five?
