People slagging Priddis off don't have a clue. Look at the stats and they show he had the second most possessions in the game. Look at the man's record and tell me how much we haven't missed him. I'd be interested to know why? He's a premier midfielder look at Judd today absolutely terrible against Freo tweaked his groin too. He had 19 disposals and kicked two points they had to rest him in the forward line.:D Did that happen to Priddis?:confused:

I don't want anything. He is what he is - solid in and under ball magnet. He is not what everyone else thinks he is - tier 1 midfielder. There's no way he should be in the top votes tonight. All you guys talk about is his positive stats but have not taken into account his negative stats.

Other people I disagree with and are happy to discuss. You on the other hand, I can't take seriously.
 
He isnt flashy like GAblett or Judd or Kerr or Goodes I can agree on.

But Im pretty confident in saying he is a highly regarded player at WC BB.

His kicking has come along in leaps and bounds, not as many UP & UNDERs.

I taped the game and later on tonight I will watch and see if you have a point but for now I will leave it as it is. :thumbsu:
 
What a joke of a thread. This guy's attack on the ball is second to none. He has the look of a Harvey or Black to him, I am confident his career will produce a Brownlow.

Seriously, great win and you feel the need to bag one of the best on field players tonight .. wtf?

Priddis' brilliance is that when he was out, we had no one doing this.

Keep him in for that reason alone...
 
How do you rate Brett Kirk Bunsen Burner?

Essentially they are exactly the same player
 
Priddis makes the Eagles that much more effective. Whether it's simply his on-ball ability which free's up other players, or just his ability to run and create space. I think our midfield fuctions 50% better with him in the mix.

He's no Judd or Ablett, but he's a gun at what he does.
Gets the pill in tight, applies defensive pressure so opposition mids don't get easy clearances, and runs hard to provide support to other midfielders.

He does what everyone expects of him. There wouldn't be anyone on here who thinks Priddis can turn a game off his won boot, or put on a match winning performance. That shouldn't mean his efforts and hard work on the field should go unrecognised.

I actually see where you are coming from in some respects. There were times when he didnt use it well, actually i noticed 3-4 times when he overlooked someone clearly free down the line but Matt chose to run 20m and then be forced to handball under pressure.

That said, his pros certainly outweigh the cons.
 
I'm not that concerned that his kicking isn't great. He is such a gun when it comes to clearances and contested possessions, it more than makes up for it.
 
What more does the man have to do to get everyones respect? Last years finals series was enough to show that hes more than B grade. Hes clearly quite an important player for us.

It is pleasureable when a player gets the ball and disposes to clear advantage. I always get a buzz out of that. Intelligent football.

Sure Priddis deserves kudos. Gets the freakin ball. Same could be said about Mainwaring. He was incredible in reading where the ball was soon to be kicked. I never enjoyed his disposal though. Oddly frustrating. And when it was one of those games when he kicked well to players or even goaled, it was relief, and an obvious contrast. Other games anxious and frustrating. But he was in a star team, which kind of covered for his shortcomings.

Priddis is not a tier 1 midfielder. Yet. Oh yeah, and I like his tackling.

I agree that he is not a Tier 1 midfielder (if we class Tier 1 as Ablett, Bartel, Black, Kerr and the like) and that his disposal is not the best in the team but he is getting bloody close which is an exeptional effort for someone with only 30 odd games to his credit.

I disagree that he wasn't worthy of votes tonight. Embley was a stand out but after that you could draw a line across 7 or 8 players (some of whom had purely defensive rolls) of which Priddis was definitely one of them.

Yes, he had quite a few possessions that weren't too the teams advantage (11 to be precise) but he also had 23 that were effective and many of those were in a heavily contested situation (16 contested possessions!)

Best tackler in the side as well, I think we are nearly a 5 goal better side when he is playing.

Some people adopt the attitude that every player in every position must be a gun at everything.

Priddis is a clearance machine. He plays on the ball, and his job is to win the ball. Sam Mitchell's skills are nothing special, but I wouldn't expect to see too many upset Eagles fans if he asked to come here. The two are very similar players and I highly doubt Priddis is eating up anywhere near as much of our salary cap as Mitchell is at the Hawks. I reckon we're getting value for money, keep it up Priddler.:thumbsu:

BB isn't complaining that Priddis isn't good enough, he's just bemused at the masses of West Coast supporters who seem to rate him as a star of the competition. He is excellent at winning the footy, but he often makes bad decisions under pressure or misses the target with his disposal.

Priddis is a very good player to have rotating through the midfield and winning some contested footy, but he is not elite as so many are suggesting. He is too ineffective when he gets the ball to be in the same class as Black, Ablett, Bartel etc.
