Sideshow Matt was number 1 at the Eagles last season in possessions, clearences, loose ball gets and tackles, second in handball receives , inside fifties and hard ball gets. He completed 25 MORE tackles than the second best tackler in the team (Tyson Stenglein, a player with 175 games of AFL experience). Certainly there are areas of his game that can be improved (he seems a bit one sided and sometimes blazes away without thinking), but he seems to be working on his deficiencies and is improving all the time. What more can we expect of a 23 year old who has had to work very hard simply to get a game at AFL level ?

I realise that I quoted Priddis' stats from last year earlier in this thread, but they bare repeating !:)

Not that simple. He has been over rated again and again and again. Anyone who gave him BOG or even second (and a fir few people did), are not really analysing his game properly.

Got 2nd most votes in the coaches awards for his game on Saturday night.

Nuff said.

Watched the tape again and his clearance work was top notch.

Worked very hard physically one on one and in congestion.

Allowed our younger brigade to run forward of the ball and attack.

Banging it on the boot 2-3 times did indeed result in ineffective kicks, but was definitely 2nd best on ground behind Embley. Ebert 3rd.

Loved his game, a tireless workhorse, nothing more.

You conveniently forgot the times he handpasses to someone who was hot. I'm not a stats man but the stats say he did a por disposal 11 times. That's 1/3.

He had 3 clangers for the match.

His handpassing, whilst not sublime at times he was under pressure from 2 crows, wasnt as bad as you are making it out to be.

Nothing "convenient" about it. He did a stellar job.

It's not about the actual handpass, more the decision making. A lot of people also keep banging on about his disposal - it's not the best, but once again, it's not really where it's at. It's more about banging it on the boot or firing a handpass to someone who's hot. He does it a fair bit.

He is a ball magnet, his disposal at times isn't the best and yes he needs to work on it but why dwell on the fact at times his disposal was a little in efficient rather than the fact that he had the ball 30+ times.

He has showed us in the last 2 weeks just how important he is to our side.

He often finds the ball where there is no room and he doesn't have the pace of a Judd or Ablett to brake away. Hence the "banging it on the boot".

His job isn't to get effective disposals it's how he manages to get the ball into his hands and get a clearence.

Something that was lacking when he was out of the side.

I personally like the guy he is such an important part off our team.

The good thing about Priddis is that he consistently plays at a high standard, regardless of the circumstances. He must be a coach's dream.

Anyone still think this guy is an A grade mid? Anyone still think he'll wn a Brownlow?

Win a brownlow?

Geez.

Has struggled in the past fortnight.

But doesnt sook about it, gets on with his job.

Having the stars around definitely helped his game and is showing that recently.

Priddis will bounce back.

A grade mid. Yes, but not a superstar . Win a Brownlow, why not ? He has many of the attributes to win a Brownlow (clean, fair, hardworking) and he already has a Sandover to his credit, so who is to say that a Brownlow is beyond his capabilities !

The only way he can win a brownlow is the way Jimmy Bartel won it. A high class B grader who can break tags and kick goals while racking it up. So far Priddis has shown he can rack it up, but where are the goals?

If Shane Woewodin can win a Brownlow then there is no reason why Matt Pridis can't !

iv always watched priddis, he is consistent, clears the ball and uses it well. he has never got the credit deserved and i just presume its because he is a mature player but i believe he still has alot of improvement in him.
