Yep I was there that day also, fantastic game.

I used to love it. Went with Dad and Pa all the time and they stood at the back and I just forced my way down to the fence on centre wing. Always so close to the action when the ball was on that side of the ground.

Hawks Blues games were awesome atmosphere. I remember Steve Silvagni first year and Knights going head to head and Knightsy taking specs and bombing torps that day.

I remember Kennedy kicking 5 in the first qtr one day against Carlton. Yep Kanga!!!

I couldn’t remember a damn thing when it came to school exams but can remember certain things from 30 odd years ago like it was yesterday with our club lol

After your comprehensive record here I'm not sure of anything now. RD 17 seems we beat them by almost 100 points at Princes Park in 1987. My memory re the number of goals in Q3 is obviously distorted.

No fan of the joint.
Never felt anything remotely Hawthorn about the place rocking up. Sort of like having to go for Sunday brunches at your rich dotard of a step brother's place who is stupidly proud of his very average home gifted to him by his tax cheating snowbird parents.
He sits there gloating about his faux danish vinyl chairs and 3m x 3m weight room while all you see is dimly lit outdated decay.
Always felt grey and drizzly, could never see anything on the opposite wing because of the random arrival of the sun/shadows and the way the place lifted for a soft Kernahan taking helicopter punts at goal.
Always seemed out of place and unlikely to stay there and was thrilled to get the f out.

We were later screwed on a grandstand deal at PP. something to do with the Elliot stand if I remember rightly.

In 1987 I watched us play what I still regard as the most perfect quarter of football I have ever seen. It was against Footscray, and we kicked about 13 goals in the 3rd quarter. I don't think a Footscray player touched it. Brereton and Dunstall put on a clinic

What makes that match even more amazing we had Platten on the bench in the last who was one of the reasons for our resurgence in the 3rd and Buckenara playing injured from the 1st qtr where he was so called corked to slow him down after getting 14 possessions in the first and a couple of goals. Ablett who was smoking in the first half hardly sighted after half time

I was at Melbourne Uni in the early 70's and living nearby, so Princes Park was the perfect venue.
I could walk there from my student digs.

Glenferrie Oval was just too small to play good footy, and we adapted to the size of Princes Park and played a great attacking brand of football: the dimensions of the ground being similar to the MCG would have helped. I'm not sure if it was the type of footy we were playing or just the fact that we were such a damn good champion team, but the era there produced 7 premierships.

But the Bloos just had to try to screw us financially, which is the way they operate, so it was inevitable that we left.

That was a friday night v north in 1993, he ended up kicking the winner in a narrow victory. Pretty sure platten hit him up for the final goal
