I thought the article "Another Wooden Spoon" by Mike Sheahan was well considered.
He is basically saying that we certainly have the makings of a potential premiership team in the coming years, but for us over enthusiastic supporters not to get too concerned if we end up last again this year.
The young players have a lot to learn and the match committee has to ascertain what is the best balanced side we can put together. This also takes time to try different combinations of players and positions. We have to give game time to ALL the new players as quickly as possibe. That's almost 36 players to play as much as possible throughout the year. Therefore it's almost impossible to always have the best side on the park when you are trying different combinations
I think Pagan is doing a great job in teaching the young players that they will only get a game if they compete fiercely. He knows they will grow into great players but if great players don't have that instinctual ferocity they won't reach their fullest potential. Look how long North Melbourne continued playing with desire and fierocity even after Pagan had left. He engrained into all of them at very young ages.
Stay calm guys:thumbsu:

OK. Everyone pay attention now. It's "Princes Park". There are no princesses there (well, maybe Houlihan).

Secondly, despite the opposition baiting raging in the Hawthorn thread, I think most Blues fans know it's a long road back. That said, there's more behind us than in front.

Aaaaarrrrggghh! Bloodyhell it's not Princess, it's Princes. It's the masculine, not the feminine!
I can understand opposition supporters getting it wrong, but it is almost unforgivable for Carlton supporters not to know.

PRINCES PARK - as in it is a Park for more than one Prince. The plural of Prince being Princes. We have a few players who could be called royalty down there, so it's an ironic name for a ground.

Princes Park - the park for Carlton royalty, ie: Princes.

As for Princess Park - that would be a female and we all know we don't have any of them in our team.:p

what's the female version of optus oval & mc labour park?

3 Mobile park, because i'm currently getting scr3w3d by them :(

MC in-labour park? Or for all the lefties out there, MC-Liberal park (see reason above).

Yes, it is Princes Park. Here is an easy way to remember. Players who come from Carlton are Princes of football. Once they win a premiership, they become kings. Those that don't will always remain Princes. Those that don't play for Carlton are commoners. Every day footballers, unlike the Princes of football that play for Carlton.

they may be able to change the name of the ground but the area is still Princes Park :) could be Prince Alfred not sure

Oh dear. One of my pet hates is people calling our ground Princess Park.Yes, we do have dainty little Princess Houlihan, but that is it. We already give enough ammunition to oppositiion clubs, please lets not give them some more by calling the hallowed turf Princess.

Yes, we do have dainty little Princess Houlihan
you just couldn't be more wrong about that. he was once soft, but now he is as hard as it gets. you should recognise what an achievement that is to change your natural ingrained soft personality and become a hard dedicated player.

I'm grateful for the new short haircut. Count me as a Ryan supporter.

One of my pet hates is people calling our players names like that, which is old hat by now. Have you seen him lately? He's built himself up into a pretty big unit now and was throwing himself in last week & tackling hard. Time to leave that talk alone now.:thumbsd:

AGREED!

I dont get the Houlihan thing. He's got great skills and will run all day. He's not an in-and-under player like Bentick. You dont' have to be a rough'n'tumble, tough-nut to be a good player.

Can't we leave the name calling of our players to opposition supporters?

you mean away from MC Labour and back to Princes Park?

As soon as Carlton get some $$$$ back into the bank, absolutely we should.
But, I meant the user Princess Park should change his username to Princes Park.

And one of my other pet hates is people who themselves and the club far too seriously. Seriously, thats just ridiculous. When its on the Carlton board, as far as I am concerned, there is nothing wrong with a bit of a joke like that. But calling the ground Princess Park in all seriousness is just ridiculous.

:thumbsd::thumbsd: to you.

I'm guessing it might be a girlie.

Might be a joke to you but why call one of our players a dainty little Princess? Would you call him that to his face? There are enough opposition supporters who come here bagging our players. Why do we need that from Carlton supporters? Then again we get that from them anyway!
