that is really good!!!!

it shows the melbourne have bounced back from it being applied to them twice
carlton played finals from it
richmond won a flag after it

brisbane the only one that hasn't but i suspect they got an end of first round one, like wce did, who did play in a grand final.

the concern here is they've removed one of the key mechanisms that promoted the bottom sides up to the top end of the ladder. whilst implementing a mechanism that kept top sides up there for longer in free agency. so its no surprise the AFL has stagnated massively.
Stole it off Rahul who posted it on Twitter.
Gunna send it to the world famous 'List Manager' next time he starts his bullshit.

Sorry, you don't throw your principles away just because life is difficult.
You do when the competition and the administrative body is, and have stacked the pack against you.

Where was the principles of the compromised draft?

Of giving Melbourne #3 for Frawley, blockbusters, COLA, academies,F/S etc etc, arc.

The game is rigged and ha no principles

I personally don’t see any issue in bringing back PPs for clubs that have been bottom 5 for say three seasons in a row.

With FA giving the clubs in the 8 a massive leg up, the draft is becoming less effective in providing a cyclical process of teams improving.

A team gets a PP after their 3rd year in the poo, then it resets (they can’t get another one the next year)

That PP is taken directly after their 1st Pick.

It wouldn’t help us this year obviously.

I agree that if we lose Robbo & Koby we should be putting in for one.

I would much prefer the AFL to assist with off field/coaching personnel appointments rather than a priority pick. This would be in the form of subsidies that are conditional on only being spent on football department spending.

This would allow clubs like the saints to be more competitive in trying to lure the best recruiters as well as assistant/development coaches in the land.

Wow, I'm sorry my lighthearted comment opened such a can of worms....chill out everyone.

Actually I'm quite attached to my principles....
sorry I forgot to add the ;)

However, I don't really believe accepting a priority pick in the light of an unforeseen event like two ( three?) of our players having to retire prematurely due to health issues, is a matter of principle in all honesty.
It's lousy luck, not bad management. And in that circumstance I wouldn't have a problem accepting one.

And every other commentator everywhere....Roos, King, Whateley, Mc Clure for a start.
Let's see that stat discussed on Fox Footy when they're laying the boots into us.

If Robbo retires we deserve one somewhere. If Robbo and Koby go we deserve a high first round pick. Absolutely ask for it.

Nobody “deserves” anything but we could definitely make a very strong case for one in that situation.

I just don't see them giving us one. They won't give Carlton one and they have been far worse than us.

If we only win one more this year and 2 or 3 next year, maybe.

If we lose players as originally posted, then yes we should.

If they come out and offer it, then of course you take it.

That's how I see it and I respect other people may have a different opinion.

All good... always good :)

Nailed it IMO!

it feels like the big clubs have slowly found a way of stunting the effectiveness of equalisation. the dogs winning the flag means it won't be addressed for years.

looking back in hindsight, the GWS academy outrage just allowed the big clubs to secure their own academies at the detriment of the smaller clubs handed inferior zones. especially the two WA clubs who are now keeping talent out of the WAFL system. usually the good players in the remote areas would be relocated by their WAFL club and put into the system for all 18 AFL clubs to draft them. Freo have now successfully moved one bloke out of their WAFL club without the clubs consent. they are fuming after they spent a bit of coin developing the kid and will see no return from their investment.

there's an absolute gold mine of players in regional WA.

richard goyder becoming commissioner isnt helping.

they've effectively been doing that for us post ross lyon

i like the idea of a $$$ investment into football related spending. question I have is would that money be outside the cap?

Just mirroring your style.

Answer? I have no idea. I don't want us to go down that path because it doesn't address our real problems.

Have never operated that way. You **** up, you work your way out of it... Even if it takes longer to do so.

I actually find it funny that you should start this thread given you accuse people of embracing mediocrity because of their views.

Begging for a hand out simply based on performance is the most pathetic,, victim mentality, mediocrity embracing action I can think of.

We ****** it, we fix it.

Does that answer your question?
Exactly.
Begging for a handout is not developing a winning culture.

wow. that certainly is interesting!!!

without the cumulative affect of that money i strongly doubt if we would have been competitive during 2004-2011, maybe not even be here at all. i mean it was only at the end of 2013 the AFL had to provide us with more money, cup in hand, so we could continue to pay staff after we coudn't extend our line of credit and overdraft facilities. do you think we shouldn't have gone to the AFL then?

how do you feel about the compensation pick from free agency?

We got mid 20s for Dal and BJ. If Murphy gets pick 2, I die.

Exactly.

Why is it begging when

NSW get free players from academies

GWS and GC got all the best players

Now we find the WA and probaably the SA clubs are warehousing local talent

Melbourne get #3 for Frawley ( How's that pick travelling) and get a leg up to get Viney.

Clubs due to previous success get F/S

Lower clubs never get FA because they can't rebuild and then get to play in WA twice every year (When was the last time Collingwood did that) and get shitful time slots year in year out while SA and WA get two derby's and showdowns every single year,Essendon get ANZAC and Dreamtime every single year.

The list of rigging goes on but we are begging,

FMD victim blaming at its worst.

Again I will post Rahuls tweet.

This plus the rigged academies and rigged draw, plus 18 years of a shit Docklands stadium deal just shows how most other clubs get a leg up and we don't.

It's not whinging it is facts for all to see Screenshot_20180529-104116.jpg
