I actually find it funny that you should start this thread given you accuse people of embracing mediocrity because of their views.

Begging for a hand out simply based on performance is the most pathetic,, victim mentality, mediocrity embracing action I can think of.

2014: 4 wins

2018: 1 win

so like i was saying it trended up for 3 years then back down for 2.

but if you are comparing every year to the base of 2014. then i'm not surprised you see it as a trend up wards as everything will be an improvement on what is the worst result.

unless this year continues on as it does then it will be even worse than 2014!!!! which is alarming! we would have trended further back than the base.

now i know from 1997-2010 and 2011 we only had 16 teams so can't really evenly divide it into 3. but you can see prior to the introduction of the compromised drafts + free agency + zones and the removal of the priority picks, we had a pretty even mix of bottom, middle and top:
1997->2011
top: 7
middle: 4
bottom: 4

2011->2018:
top: 0
middle: 3
bottom: 4

it looks unlikely we will get over the next 7 years: 1 middle and 7 top finishes. so it looks like there is something inherently broken with the equalization of the comp and we are not the only ones. the downward trend is alarming. it appears once you bottom out you stay out unless you get a leg up on the comp with concessions.

not really. its about pulling every lever at our disposal to getting off the bottom. we cannot accept where we are or turn away from something we can use to better the club.

i think the mentality of accepting the results we have now, whilst backing a poor coach in and not wanting to do everything we can to improve the side shows acceptance of our poor position. we can't accept where we are at and we need to do everything possible to get out of it. if that means putting the hand out, then so be it!!!! we cannot stay where we are.

i don't care what it takes but we cannot be out of finals in another 2-3 seasons time. if that means sacking well liked people and making unpopular decisions then i don't care. get us to where we need to be.

Fix the ****ing problems first because even if we do get one, well most likely pick the wrong player and fail to develop him correctly.

Who's accepting the results we have now? Me? The club?

Principles are all well and good, but jeez we'd all like to see at least ONE premiership before we shuttle off this mortal coil!!

why not both?

your post seemed to be pretty accepting of it, i mean you tried to say we were trending up on 2014 as justification that we dont need one, despite it not being true? you also don't want to go near it due to begging which means you are willing to accept our current predicament than applying for an extra pick.

Nowhere have I said I accept what's going on

I stated how i believe the AFL would view it.

If you think that I am accepting our situation as far for the course then you've either got rocks in your head or you're letting your ego fog your view.

Not wanting knee jerk reactions doesn't mean you accept the status quo.

Not wanting a person sacked until you know where the problem lies doesn't mean you accept the status quo.

Not believing a priority pick is the right course of action doesn't mean you accept the status quo.

Not a believer in begging for help if I messed up. That's just the way I am.

Suggest you read HER post correctly.

I'd prefer the club to go about making the right changes even if it means more pain.

Typically the younger generation just wants the easiest and quick solution.

I can do this all night...

your view is clearly accepting of it and has been for more than 12 months now. you've slowly relinquished your defence of the situation as this season goes on and i bet come the end of the year you'll contradict your own views from the season before. you've attempted to ridicule numerous people as a way of holding your line, now that the line is becoming harder to hold, the narrative is slowly changing but the same attempts are there.

you can mention knee jerk reactions, sackings, or what ever else you like but you made it very clear in this thread that you would not like a priority pick even if it would help us because you dont want to be seen "begging".

but the kicker was you said the results have improved, when they haven't. you said it trended up wards not me. you were wrong. if you really think the results really have improved then you should be asking your self the same question you opened with?

what i really think it is, is an acceptance of what ever happens. if richo is there in 2019: fine. if richo is sacked now: fine. if we are bottom 6 next year: fine.

Why wouldnt we want a priority pick?

The club has secretly planned this to get us back into the 2nd round of the draft - genius if you ask me ;)

All of the negative press we keep receiving from all football commentators/journalists works in our favour for the potential of getting a PP..

He listed how he wanted the club to go. Yet you spin some crap about how he is going to change his tune.
Fact is club needs a review. And if that doesn't happen before a major sacking then the whole leadership must go. Need to address the issues first. If you dont then the same shit will happen.

Ask for a priority pick and the league will just laugh at you. And like VDS that is accepting mediocrity. Brisbane and Carlton more deserving but neither will apply. Injuries and experience and other issues are our problem this year.
Only circumstances are if we were to lose both Robbo and Steven's due to the concussions/heart.

In the end i agree with Gangnam and others who suggest what does it hurt to ask?
Especially when you consider how many times we've been screwed by headquarters, why not?
Throw in the unfortunate possibilty of Stevens, Roberton and possibly Mccartin having to retire at years end due to concussion issues.
