Melbourne priority pick bad idea: McCartney

This from a coach who's team (Western Bulldogs) played in finals in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Our last finals appearance was in 2006.
Get real McCartney
and again....

Its unfortunate you are such a narrow minded supporter and all you can concentrate on is when other teams have played finals. Its quite obvious the internet connection in Thailand is as shotty as their DEET cocktails and you should accept the fact that the AFL should not reward a team for shotty decision making at the draft table and an incompetance within its board structure.

Haha, then we may as well scrap the priority pick then.

No reasonably run team will ever need one.

enjoy this season... and the next one... oh and the one after that. Or better yet why dont you pick up another Cale Morton, Austin Wonaeamirri or Liam Jurrah

The issue is that if we get a priority pick and shoot up the ladder (which would only happen in my dreams) then Dogs, Lions etc would be given one if they are as down as long as we are. The Saint are only a retirement or two away for a long time down and have be quiet on the PP.

I think all the sacking are making way for us to get one PP at start of first round (and Roo's must have demanded it as part of his employment contract).

Priority picks have nothing to do with previous shoddy draft decision making or incompetent boards, in fact if a club is doing these well they probably will never find themselves in the position Melbourne are in, so infact priority picks are all about a clubs inability to get these things right.
As mentioned earlier if Melbourne do not qualify for a PP no one ever will and the AFL should scrap it completely.
Perhaps if your going to troll you should at least read the post you are trolling, he wasn't having a crack about the finals but about the assistance received from the AFL which included draft concessions and salary cap concessions, all received while you were winning flags.
I like Vossy but his comments reek of hypocrisy.

Or Fevola, we aren't the only ones to make poor drafting decisions.
Take a hike Clown.

So true mate. So true! :thumbsu:

Darooda is a brilliant man with lots of well thought-out, practical ideas. He is ensuring himself a positive and fruitful involvement on our board for years to come.

And his personal hygiene is above reproach.

Yes it's rewarding to be so bad that we had to restructure every level of our football department

I would much rather have played in 4 straight grand finals and be on your side of the fence than to be us

Instead of handing out priority picks how about letting a club have access to picking a under age player like the mini draft the last couple of years.

How are those pre-season top 4 hopes going mate? NAB Cup form still treating you well? And btw thanks for trading us Jack Grimes for Travis Johnstone, we much appreciate it (Y)

Why don't you sell your future up shit creek for Brendan Fevola?

Oh, wait.

Leave, you're not conducting yourself the way you should be on another team's board.

I liked that one, paying Fev 800k to play for our VFL team.

It's a little frustrating that opposition fans still fail to recognise this. We're hardly being 'rewarded' for incompetence as so many posters try to claim. The debate over a PP has only come up because we're so inconceivably bad on field and off it. We're in the shit and any assistance is going to come with plenty of strings attached. I don't really want us to get a PP or the handout from the AFL, because it does appear unfair and the droning from opposition fans will be insufferable, but given the state of the club it's hard to say it isn't needed.

Isn't that why we need a priority pick?

Jesus, you are a muppet.

Regardless Wona and Jurrah were Rookie and PSD picks...

And bloody good players before reasons outside of footy

Bulldogs fans need to realize that if we get a pp we are more likely to trade away our first pick which could get them access to Boyd

If we are very lucky to get it, and trade it, then Pick 1 Boyd for a midfielder from either Bulldogs, Brisbane, St Kilda, Carlton (and maybe a couple of other clubs) would make an interesting trade period.
But all pie in the sky stuff.. hoping for a good contest this weekend against the Bulldogs.

There is a 0% chance your mob will get a start of first round priority pick.

Are you a betting man? 0%...I think that may be wishful thinking on your behalf, I would suggest that it is 50% chance.

Indeed, it could an end of first round priority pick.
