Richmond has been a rabble for a long time. I just went thru our list and i put a red line thru about 20 blokes. Considering theres only 38 or something on the list 20 duds is a fair effort. No one wants to see us finish bottom but the truth is our list is total crap. If we finish on the bottom with less than 5 wins then we get the first 2 picks in the National Draft (I read somewhere this next draft will be a good one) with Richard Tambling (a quality midfielder) and Jarryd Roughead (Key Position) probably being the top 2 at present. We also get the 1st pick in the PSD...there will be some good uncontracted players this season...Ball, Hodge, Polak to name just afew. When you consider the potential for father sons like Kym Monteath...then this draft if we finish stone motherless last will be the making of Richmond. Although it would have been more helpful if the 50game father son rule hadnt been changed because we could have picked up Sam Robertson who is in the AIS AFL academy. Hopefully there may be a change back to 50 games but highly unlikely. Anyway thats my grand plan for returning the tigers back to the top...2 early picks, a star picked up in the PSD and hopefully Monteath will be as good as people say!

Bythe way...can weaver or someone give us a rundown on Kym Monteath and some other potential top 10's. I think we're all interested in that now!

here here bring on the spoon.

cant believe i just said that !!

but here is my reasons:

1. Frawley is definately gawn if this happens

2. We will have so much trading power and drafting power at season's end to really give our list a real clean out.

Good post Supertiger and lets hope to see a few more posts on the richmond board. I honestly was just thinknig of this before. We really need a cleanout. A new list,Board and Coaching panel and Coach and i think than Wayne Campbell has to give up his captaincy to johnson.

I think that we should give it till round 8-9 then if our senior players arent up to scratch we just play all our youngsters we got in last years national Draft. Players like tivendale, coughlan etc who havent been up to scratch lately could be trade bait.

I heard somewhere that fremantle or West Coast were after Coughlan. Could get Kerr or Fletcher and i would be happy.

Other than that i really think we need to play our young kids.

Gotta play: Hartigan, Tuck, Raines, Roach, Archibald, Jackson, Gilmour etc.

Trade Bait: Tivendale, Coughlan, Hilton, Pettifer, Houlihan, Nicholls, Hall etc if they dont perform this year.

Solid Performers: Chaffey,Johnson,Stafford, Newman, Gasper, A.Kellaway, Bowden,

Promise for Future: Newman, Krakouer, Rodan, Ottens, Zantuck Hartigan

Looking Down the barrell: Hyde, Nicholls, Marsh, Fiora,

Wait and see: Weller, Morrison, Blumfield,

I cant be bothered going through the whole list. I dont know whats the go anymore.

in theory we could have a huge influx of young talent into the side and club next year:
lets just say we do finish with less than 5 wins:
added to the fact there has been small murmurs about otto,s future.
2 priority picks
1 high pick for otto and 2nd rnd or player.
slight chance of getting travis cloke with our 2nd pick and young monteath with our 3rd.
both gilmour and jackson quite possibly could have been top 10 picks this year if we didnt swoop.

added the expected improvement with roach, raines, hartigan, schultz, moore and the above to our side next year hopefully will be a new and improved outfit.

good god cant believe im talking about next year after only 3 rnds in.lol.

cheers!

wrenny of course they will be after cogs, but lets face it at Richmond he will get more opportunity and game time here than he will in the west.

He wants to play 4 quarters of footy a game not 2 and a half.

Im excited. roll on 2004.

my rumour on the Ottens situation is that if he goes home hes going to Port and we'll get Steve Salopek and atleast 1 first round draft pick and possibly a 2nd round as well!

Not sure if I'd have Coughlan in the trade bait bracket.

Also rethinking about Gaspar, Kellaway and definitely Bowden in the solid performers bracket.

Gaspar = Half a million $$ a year  (4 disposals yesterday, works out at around $5,600 a disposal)
Kellaway = Bottom 0.5% disposal in the league
Bowden = Once heralded as future Richmond champion

Why are people trading Coughlan?

I am as dissapointed with the footy club as anyone, but to trade our future away? You have got to be kidding..

Geez people, wake up.

Correct oxx , very sad.

Anger I can understand, frustration makes sense but being happy for a loss and planning to finish on the bottom so we can get rid of players or coach it just plain dismal.

I wont back danny, I wont defend the team for yesterday but Tigers should never be happy to finish on the bottom or the middle.

For FS this is round three there is still nineteen rounds to go, I cant say I am exxited for the rest of the year but I wont open up a wrist and let the tigers bleed for te rest of the year. I will not wish our team to be a freo or saints that accept the bottom position as it gives good picks. This isn't looking for positives this is justifying a negative. To give up makes you no better than some of the duds that have played the last two weeks.

Get behind them or you wont have them

Khan i respect your position but I want to see Richmond win a flag...we aint got the list to win one. The only way to get the class players is to finish bottom. Im happy to finish bottom in 2004 if we can get a flag inside 4 years! Theres no way we'll get one by then if we dont get some class players.

Khan your way off the mark,

I will always be a Richmond member but if we recruit well and get the bonus of having a crap year with concessions and Frawley gets the boot this season then hell I'll bloody buy 2 memberships next year.

I dont expect Richmond to win anymore I have lost confidence, I honestly dont even think we will beat Geelong this week.

Time for changes, this year lets make a start.

I haven't said that I expect us to make the finals, I haven't said that I agree with Danny. All I said is that we should never accept not trying so we get priority picks. If I was a saint or freo fan I would be ropeable that we are now performing after being given freebies fro so many years. If all it takes is to finish bottom I have an idea for you.

The easiest way now is to pay out the seniors non performance component, promote the entire coburg side and give up. This would be cheaper than just playing out the year aiming at a bottom finish. Do you really want that.Would any sponser want that , nope. The same could be said if we just didn't try. Who wants to be associated with cheats ( within the rules yes but cheating against the spirit of the rules). Danny mopst likely wont be with us at the end of the year, neither will about a dozen players ( APA rules state a maximum of one third of the list may6 be delisted each year). I know I have pride as a tiger supporter and the thought of them going out and throwing games would make me sick. If they did that would be one membership that would never be signed again. ( Gol member but been gpoing for more than twenty years)

As I said get behind them or they wont be here . Once again I are not backing danny as a coach or the players perfomance. I just cant accept the bottom of the ladder as position that people are aiming to be

Yep fair enough. I would go for either chad Cornes plus a first rounder or Salopek and Cain Akland and maybe a 3rd rounder. I like the look of cain akland he look a good find and cna play FF and Ruck well.

I jsut think that coughlan has been taken in as a star so early in his career. Remember what happened with bowden. Those years where he was really good then he stopped after every1 raved about him. I knew it would happen. But hey if it was up to me i would rather Daniel Kerr or Chad fletcher then Coughlan at the moment they are way above him and all i want to see is us maknig the finals. We simply dont have the cattle or coach.

And since coughlan loves tigerland he wouldnt wanna leave so that would make the offer more tantalising.... Benefits... Come miller use ur noggen

Wrenny - have you been out in the surf today and subsequently been hit with a surfboard or something? You've got me worried mate;)

To suggest that we should trade Coughlan for Kerr or Fletcher is .... I am lost for words. The reason that these 2 players look "above" Coughlan is the fact that they play in a side that wins and the have one of the best mid-fielders in the competiton in Cousins beside them.

As I posted before part of Coughlan's problem at the moment is he appears to carrying an injury, coupled with constant tagging. Personally I would not play him for a few weeks to get over the injury.

We need to trade those who have been given enough chances not those who represent our future

Never seen Bowden throw himself on the bottom of a pack the same way Coughlan did in his first season. Of course you're going to get good picks with a young, skilful best and fairest winner of with the ilk of Coughlan. He has only been a bit rusty this year due to the fact that other teams are sitting up and noticing that he is a quality player, and deserves close attention. That way they free up the likes of Bowden and co. to cough the ball up to anyone they please. Getting rid of Coughlan would not be a handy move IMO. Making him captain and basing a team around his desperation would be a wiser move, see Ben Cousins as an example. Too many passengers at the moment (have been for years, the majority of the younger brigade are not to blame).
