Prismall in for Gamble

wait and see

Absolute bull. You'd want to up the ante by putting him in for some valuable time now, as at the end of the season it will be very difficult. Happens all the time in professional sport, bump up the trade bait's value.

By not playing him, even for a game where he has little chance of producing (especially off he bench), then you are negatively harming your chances of trading him for a pick.

Stupid if they are doing that, which I doubt.

FFS just when we sorted most of this out. You go away for a bit then all hell breaks loose.

No way Ablett straight back in. He would have virtually most of the season off, severely lacking in strength and conditioning. There is no way, barring a high casualty list that any team would consider putting him back into the lineup.

Gamble is also in a different role to Nathan. Totally different. Gamble was selected ahead of Brynes as he has more athleticism and a greater ability to kick a goal. They are two different players altogether.

I take on your opinion of Prismall, he isn't quite up to speed with the other guys, however in the past couple of years has he had an even chance, to say that of Brynes, to have his run?

He was unlucky last year to have one bad game prior to our famous run of wins. Therefore didn't get another opportunity to play. Following that he had a good pre-season, which he got a whole one game to play well. Surprising what the outcome came from it.

We have to look outside the square with some of these guys. Remember it was that strategic thinking that put Enright to the backline (he was revolving as a midfielder when drafted), Milburn as a third defender, Kelly as a lead up forward, and probably put guys like Stokes through the midfield.

That is what we need to keep good players here, so they can develop further. Like it or not, continue to keep young players in the two's they will only fail once put up to the ones for a poultry game. It is a forgone conclusion, destined to fail.

ablett will come back, and if his head is ok, will come in for gamble, the club think he has more potential than hawkins, and possibly than his brother.

Not a chance in hell. These guys are professional athletes. You can't just walk in and expect to be competitive after a 6 month lay off. He will have to start his preseason early if he wants to be fit enough to play in the 09 season. Forget about 08.

brad moloney will happen again

How is Brad Moloney going? Where is he playing again? I thought I saw Brent Moloney playing for Melbourne on the weekend, but I didn't see Brad.

I always liked Brad Moloney, I thought he had a bit of talent and was sad to see him go.

I don't know if Brad Moloney would be getting a game for us these days though. We are pretty good. Brad Prismall can't get a game either which is a shame for him.

And when is Brent Ottens coming back?

This is what concerns me about Egan as well. What chance does he really have of making a positive impact in 2008 after being out for so long?

Very true but the one thing going for Egan is he has kept up an AFL schedule of weight training, boxing, swimming and cyling. He atleast has a base level of fitness. Definately not ideal but must surely be well ahead of what N.Ablett has been doing.

Ablett was never conditioned for AFL football when he was playing.... was nursed through '07 by the most dominant side seen for 8 years. Forget about him... he's history.

By the way, like someone else mentioned... He could never come straight back after a year out of the game. You obviously have no idea what sought of conditioning goes into an AFL player, none at all!! These guys train their back sides off!!

Nath is a little cry baby who took a walk when challenged by the club and his team mates to have a killer pre-season... The club is better without him and if they new the result in hindsight, he would never have played for the Cats at all.

The G train hasn't exactly slipped straight back into form and he only missed a couple of months. It even to Gary Snr a full preseason to get back into the swing of things after his brief retirement in 91.

If he comes back and that's a big if (despite what forrest "hutchy" gump says:D) then he'd have to slug it out in the VFL for the remainder of the year. Remember he was only just getting to an AFL fitness level when he walked away so he's going to have to put in some very long, committed hours if he wants to make it back.

Don't get me wrong, if he came back and WANTED to play and was passionate about giving his all then it'd be fantastic but you'd be kidding yourself if you think he'll play a game or two in the magoos and then just slot in at CHF for the reigning premiers just in time for their tilt at back to back flags.

P.S. Gamble will stay in. I feel for Pris but AFL footy isn't Auskick, not everyone gets a fair go.

I like it!! :thumbsu: Can I use that? :D

Vegas showed his importance to the team yesterday. He was able to cause problems up forward when the delivery wasn't great, and noone else was standing up.

Watching him in the VFL last year playing all over the ground, I noticed he has a very GAJ elusiveness about him and good skills to boot. The fact that he can play tall and small up forward makes him a gem to be taking a 4th or even 5th defender. I can see him moving into the middle before too long, where he will have serious impact - the body of Corey with the elusiveness of Ablett, and the making ability of Jimmy.
