Prismall

Whilst getting back to Prismall, I think he'll get more of a run, might not be this week though. If he doesn't want to be at Geelong next year we won't get much in return for him, but for anyone that has paid attention a lot of 2nd string players have moved on from premiership sides to never really step up. In fact, right now I'm struggling to think of any fringe player from a Premiership team that has moved on and become more successfull??

Yeah, I can't think of too many either. It probably doesn't happen all that often. By the same token though, it's pretty rare to see a player of Prismall's talent languishing in the VFL for so long.

As an observer Priismall is worth sticking with because he has good skills and he needs more game time and i hate to suggest it but Jimmy Bartel seems to be well off llast years form.

I agree, Prismall is a talent, whether or not he's in the best 22 is the issue. But if you're suggesting that he get a game over Bartel you're stretching it. Jimmy is coming into form and will only get better.

I have a feeling that Prismall will see more games this year and more time on the ground with the likes of Chapman and Stokes to spend less time in the middle and more as permanant forwards. Varcoe and Byrnes will get their chance to prove their worth, Prismall will get the same.

I don't think anyone would suggest not 'sticking with' Prismall, there seems to be a theory that without a place in our best 22 by seasons end that he'll move on, because another club may offer him a place in their best 22.

Ummm nooooooooooo.... Kelly should not be rated as highly as Jimmy, Kelly wont be classified as a gun or a very good player until he learns how to dispose of the ball correctly

Kelly has easily been better than Bartel this year. I read that post about Kelly not being great this year and was scratching my head.

I think he is only just behind Corey as our 2nd best midfeilder in 08.

Kelly has been awesome

Who ever said Kelly was rated more highly than Bartel?

I said he has been better than Bartel this year, and he has. If you have some evidence to suggest he hasn't then by all means share it, but don't start weighing in with crap that isn't even what was said.

Btw, who the hell says "ummmm" in a post - it's dumb enough saying it when talking never mind writing it down.

Wow, Jimmy dropped for Prismall... i'm a huge rap for Pris but that is ridiculous.

i said no one should say kelly has been better than him... i wrote ummm to show how dumb ur post was... if u actually watch geelong matches, you will see that kelly hardly gets any attention because his disposal is weak.... FACT. Bartel gets much more attention and still produces, so i think it is unfair to say he has been better than Bartel, thats all im saying...

They are two very different things.

Whether Kelly has had a better year than Bartel is a matter of opinion i guess. I think Kel has gone in and got the hard ball, layed effective tackles and although his disposal hasn't been perfect, he has had plenty of score assists; equal third in the league.

He would have been top 3 in the the b&f up until about round 7 behind Gaz and Corey IMO.

Kelly started the season in style but has gone cold somewhat and as for Jimmy if they were to leave him in one position long enough he would return to his 08 form.It seems to me that they are using him as a spare parts man and he is far to good for that.As for Prismall there sould be no thought of getting rid of him.Give him a fair go and I'm sure we will reap the rewards because the wolves from Carlton are hovering.(back to days of cheque book footy)

Watched Jimmy pretty closely last week, didnt seem to jump hard for marks, preferring to body. Didnt run side to side with the rest of the group in the warm up. I dont think he is operating on full warp power and is just getting through games. Great to see Prismall get his chance!

Just re-watched the North v Catters game, and James Kelly actually was pretty bloody good! He's been a bit gunshy around the goals since he kicked three or four behinds in a row from gettable angles a few weeks back, but his efforts around the ball have been solid.

The problem with Kelly is that he does alot of subtle small stuff that people generally tend to miss unless you watch a replay. So while some games he may appear to be quiet, he is in fact having a reasonably good match just by providing a few 1% in packs and so forth. Personally, I think he is an extremely underrated player, even by alot of us fellow cat fans. A vital cog in the midfield that goes unrealised when compared to the likes of Ablett and Bartel.

Another very solid game from Pris.
Good disposal, great awareness and always finds a way to get the footy.

As an aside, has anyone ever seen him smile?
I've watched him a lot (both at AFL and VFL level) and i've never once seen him smile, instead he's always looking like someone just shit in his cereal.
I thought either his goal or the celebrations around Blake's goal would have drawn at least a smirk from him, but nothing.
Brent 'Iceman' Prismall.

Excellent outring from Prismall.Loved the way after getting crunched, he got pretty much straight back up......tough.
That was yet another filthy act from a Port player today - captain courageous Tredrea pushed him into that other bloke intentionally, no doubt.

Yeh - though in Tredreas defence it is pretty hard to push someone and it not be intentional.........;)

He really put his hand up today, was great. Chased and tackled hard, was good with the ball.

After the game in an interview on K-rock he spoke about the coaches telling him to work on half back and half forward roles in the 2's to add some versatility to his game and that he's still working on it. Spoke very well about always having the confidence.
