Looks like us fickle, negative, bandwagon supporters are not as negative or fickle as accused of being.

Maybe some of you should just pull your heads from out of the sand.

I don't get that line of argument at all.

It is because I follow the club that poor performances of players, coaching staff and administation are particularly upsetting.

About 10% of posters put the "boots in" because a thread is about player X. Most of us look at the situation and think to ourselves, "you know what, Player X has been bad for X weeks now and there is a guys in the twos who could take his spot".

So u are all for putting your boots into people who play for you???

This is a football forum, dude. If you can't handle criticism of your players you shouldn't log on.

Any player that pulls on the Essendon guernsey is open to criticism. Just as they are open to praise.

To me the Essendon jumper is sacred and it should be a privelage for a player to wear it out with the club. If a player puts up the sort of soft, lacklustre efforts we have seen from Prissa this season, i will say what i think.

Also, I help pay Prismall's wages so why should i not be able to voice my opinion if he is not performing?

If you pulled your head out of the sand and watched the second half of last week's game, you would have seen Prismall being our best player on the ground.

I only question the decision to drop Prismall over the likes of Dempsey and Lonergan, whom played much more poorly for the whole game. Or even give Melksham a rest after his ankle copped another beating on the weekend. But obviously we have to back the selection comity, who have spent the best part of the week going through and detailing that this is our best shot at beating Geelong.

Oh.

Just because someone you were having a whine about, got dropped, does not warrant your fickleness and negativity. It only seems to confirm that you like to stick the boots in at every opportunity, and to everybody in sight.
:thumbsu:

Based on the last game that I saw (Bulldogs):

I'm glad Prismall is out because I feel he doesn't offer enough, but I do understand your confusement as to why Melksham wasn't rested (if he's not close to 100%, silly selection) and perhaps Lonergan not dropped also, although they play completely different positions, and as pointed out in another thread, Sam will help us keep a similar structure.

If Reimers, Williams or even Quinn were banging down the door, I'm sure Lonergan would be the first out of the forward line.

Best on ground in 2nd half :D:thumbsu:

He has been shit all year, mate. He was shit again on Sunday. Would it make you feel better if i just said he has been good?

Agreed that they play different positions. However, someone like Andrew Welsh has proven that he is capable of playing just about anywhere on the field. TBH, I'd much preferred seeing him line up forward again, and put Pris back in the guts, with Longergan sitting this one out, without hurting the structure.

Whomb, I like your little addition to your sig. .
If the man learns how to bounce the ball, he will be superb :D

No, I just don't agree with people, who obviously have something against a certain player; highlight their negatives, without acknowledging their positives. I think everyone agrees he had a very good last quarter on Sunday, but if you go back and watch the tape, his third quarter was very very good, including getting two clearances, which led directly to 2 goals for us.

Hell, some people were giving Watson votes on here for his efforts on Sunday, when his disposal was the worst of everyone's on the field (including Prismall's first half)

However, not a negative comment was made on his game, and yet again, the whipping boy, Prismall, like Stanton and Slattery before him, gets feedback like such, when truth be told, there were players donning the red and black on Sunday who had far, far worse games than him.

I see a lot of criticism given to Brent on this board and i'm kinda glad.

I've thought it for a long time, but he's extremely overrated.

anf06 is one of the few on here that backs Brent, and to me it's very similar to those that either love or hate H Slattery. You see what you want to see.

Prismall has been terrible this year, fella. Honestly.

When he starts producing 25+ touches a game, with kicks that actually help us and not deliver turnovers, I'll say well done you can keep your spot.

But right now he's waaaay back in the pecking order, and he's behind these guys for a midfield/HBF/wing spot:

Watson, Stanton, NLM, Myers, Dyson, Jetta, Winderlich, Welsh, Zaharakis, Dempsey, Melksham, Hocking, Reimers.

And either on par with or ahead of these guys:

Long, Colyer, Howlett, Houli, Rookies.

Good to see him out of the team this week. He should come back when he knows what it means to wear the red and black. And perhaps learn to kick lol

Watson has had a great year. He can be excused for not having a great game. His positives far outweigh his negatives.

Prismall has been shit all season hence why he deserved to be dropped. Prismalls negatives outweigh his positives at this point in time. His main attribute was supposedly meant to be his elite disposal by foot and his ability to find space.

And FWIW i think you need to watch the game again. If Prismall was as good as you say he was he would still be in the team.

It's nothing to do with whipping boys. I always defend Slattery because he brings something positive to the team. He performs the role he is given. Prismall does not hence why he is not in our best 22.

Arguing has become a moot point on this issue.

Negatives outweighing his positives is perhaps a true statement as not even a good second half could reverse his bad from the first.
But I do commend him for coming out after the long break and improving his game 100%. And the coaches acknowledged that after the game.

However, dropping him, which I don't think was a banishing of him at all (see: first named emergency) but I think it rather has to do with the push from the 2's in Dyson and Stanton.

I don't think dropping him will have a positive effect. He won't actually be playing in the reserves, so in essence we are just not playing him at all, which, I doubt will assist in boosting that confidence thing..

I am disappointed he is dropped. My opinion is that he is stiff.

I also think he will be a late inclusion for Melksham.

Critisicm is not something that I can't stand. Its the personal attacks......

I hate it when AFL players are called soft.

Soft isnt repetitively training day in and day out busting thier nuts from a young age, just to have the fitness level to be able to play the game.

Soft isnt spending hours upon hours of practising skills, gameplans and implenmenting a rigid lifestyle so that they get best out of themselves.

That alone, is not easy.

Then they have to put up with people who think that they dont know what it means to wear a jumper.... Give me a spell, they have been working thier whole lives to wear that jumper.

A few misdirected kicks, poor handpasses, lack of concentration/application, doesn't for me take away the pain that everyone of these players has put themselves in for.

Yes they get well rewarded for it finacially.

Yes they drive the nice cars and have the glamour girlfriends

No can't enjoy much in public.

I am sick of seeing after every loss, a Roast forum highlighting a player.

Everyone has bad days at work. Imagine jumping on the laptop and reading about it and being personally attacked or bagged.

A comment like: "he has to go away and work on his kicking" that is criticing, thats fine.

Comments like : "he should be branded never to play for the club again" is irrational, stupid and a poor reflection on one self, rather than an accurate assesment.

I have been guilty of doing both, so im not saying that its everyone else and im up on the high horse looking down.

I am just trying to get a shift in thoughts of essendon supporters to be more supportive towards players, as in the previous posts, i am sick of hearing it whilst sitting in the stands.

My 4 year old nephew who i take to the footy on occaision, loves the bombers. He cant understand why people wearing Essendon jumpers / scarfs bag the bombers.

He also has Brent Prismalls number on his back. He just loves Prizza (Think he just like saying the name), and he gets upset when supporters bag him (mainly before the ball hasn't been bounced).

It to him is like seeing superman get abused by the public.

This football team has improved leaps and bounds over the last 6 weeks, and leaps and bounds from last season.

They are getting better and better every week. Being a young side thier are going to be lulls every now and then, but I feel we are on the verge of something great here. We need a few more bows to tie first, but I think their is a lot more to be excited about than negative, it just seems that most posts/threads on here are negative. I dont believe that is reflective of the performances that we are witnessing. Which is where the fickle phrase comes from.

Its not just the players either, Knights has done a great job, in what was always going to be tough after the Sheedy era.

The coaching panel have lost me.

My point about pris is he is a smart football, yes his disposal is found wanting at times. But let's no forget, is has only played 40 odds games including a reco.

We are not going win a premiership in 10-11 and we are certainly not going to win one with players like welsh, dyson in the best 22. It has taken these players until age 26 to achieve an average of about 15 possies a game.

We have already been swamped by richmond, melborne, and west coast's mid fields let alone the rest of the comp

essendon as not been able to draft a true ball getting midfielder for at lest 10 years (except father and son - how bad would we look without him)

we finally have a couple and include houli in this and we should be investing the 30 games into them so we have mids who are finding the ball 30+ time and their is good as a result of experience and playing together, when our window is open.

If I was the manager of pris, houli and remiers, I would be looking around. I hope this does not happen. Don't be suprised that if geelong lose ablett, they may very well make a play to get pris back.

Anyway I think pris will play this week and speaking to a Geelong insider they expect him to play. His words " how can you go from being in the top 3 essendon players the previous week to being the 23 best available, given he smashed us for 2 and half quarters until he got a heavy knock in round 1."

he will be glad if he doesn't play.

Yeah Mackie told me the same.

Considering he's only played 20 odd games for EFC, if he was level headed top 23 should still be regarded as a compliment.

I think it's been well established that this didn't actually happen. Just because some dufus in the herald sun gave him votes, it doesn't mean he deserved them.

There are things he needs to work on before he belongs in the 22.

lol you're a joke, mate. The drivel in your previous post was bad enough but now you have resorted to making shit up.

I think you should change your user name, it does not coincide with your football knowledge.

And I would love to get the person to pm to verify it (to see your jaw drop) but given your lack of knowledge, it would just embrassing me. To think I have to justify a bigfooty comment.

Did I see you at the football the other week, with a rug and football record, pen in hand, jotting down goals and behinds?

Pretty rich coming from the doofus who was raving on on about Prismall being such a great defensive midfielder, too smart for the rest of the dumb midfielders at Essendon, and him being the number 1 midfielder in our next premiership.

I think you well and truelly paased on to all of us that you have NFI when it comes to football.
