Should Port be allowed to wear the PBs as their home jumper?

The Power should have 6 jumpers in any given season:

I. Regular
1. Home (BiB)
2. Away
3. Traditional [Showdowns/ANZAC/Finals] (PB)

I.a. Those would be worn the most; although the Traditional wouldn't be used more than three times during the H&A – and always in South Australia.
I.b. The design of the BiB and PB jumpers might have tweaks, but the basic design must be always respected.
I.c. The Away jumper could vary widely in both design and colours, but never be predominantly black.
I.d. Port would launch one of them every three years, alternatively.​

II. Special
4. Indigenous
5. Heritage (Not-PB Past Jumper)
6. China

II.a. Those are jumpers used in special occasions.
II.b. They would be used no more than twice per season (not including pre-seasons) – and no more than once at home or away.
II.c. Their design (including colours) should vary widely from one model to another.
II.d. There would be a new version of those jumpers every year.​

This way, for every season, the Power would have four new jumpers — three of them for special occasions (to be worn once or twice).

The China-Aussie relations will always have its ups-and-downs. There is nothing extraordinary happening. There is no reason to give up.

We are still doing groundwork there, as we should. We must be prepared for the time when the tide turns again. We can be in a position for playing a relevant role in reattaching the ties — which could bring us plenty of benefits.

Let’s remember that, as bad as the current situation may be, and as incipient as our endevour over there has been, we currently have a Chinese company as one of our major sponsors.

The initiative has given some return already, but we are in this for the long run.

Nup.

The sooner we get over that wet dream the better.

Those few years we went over there killed our season upon return and the stats are there to back it up. I firmly believe that without China, we would have already won another flag in that period.

We need to focus on winning a premiership, not trying to get into bed with a communist country, especially when there are threats of war.

There’s nothing to back this up, but results who are very similar to when we didn’t play any game there.

We certainly travel less than any SuperRugby team. Pro clubs deal with that regularly. Why couldn’t we?

I don’t think this is true at all. Firstly all three Shanghai games were massive percentage boosters for us. Two weeks is plenty of time to recover from a longish flight and Shanghai is in the same time zone as Perth so jet lag isn’t an issue. In our next game in 2017 we only lost to Geelong at KP by 2 points due to the most dubious umpiring call of the season. The next game we smashed the Hawks at home. Hardly had our season derailed.

2018 and 2019 were the same, a loss followed by a win. The 2018 loss was only by 3 points, it really could’ve gone either way. The 2019 loss to Freo was thanks to one of those awful scoreless quarters that have almost become a Hinkley trademark. Certainly nothing unusual that could only be attributed to the China game.

The preseason lighting tri panel has too much teal. The 3 lighting bolt "away" one on the far left is Port's best AFL guernsey. They should have started with it as their home uniform and continued on with it til this day.

straight up, one of the best footy guernseys of all time. if it wasn’t for the fact they should be wearing the bars, I’d be advocating for them to wear this, and they really should have worn this as their home jumper from the inception.

11/10, would recommend.
 
Would a compromise be accepted by Port fans if Port Adelaide were allowed to wear the prison bars as a full-time home jumper and non-clashing away games, but had to drop all references to the Magpies, including the SANFL team being officially known as the Power reserves and a slight change to the SANFL team's theme song to remove the word Magpies.

I think that would probably be the most reasonable compromise

I feel that Collingwood maybe still wouldn't unless Port agreed to wear a non black-white jumper against them.

I don't think Collingwood care what Port Adelaide wear/call themselves outside of the AFL, nor would that even be our right to demand Port do such a thing as that is in a completely different league.

I don't know how that would be favourable to Port either, sure they get to wear the Prison Bar jumper, but then have to completely abandon the club moniker. It would be almost suicidal in a way.

It just feels like a lose-lose situation for everyone, which I guess is the point of a compromise, but it would be hard to sell this I think.

Nah I strongly disagree. Nicknames, back in the day, came to organically and there's plenty of times clubs have moved on from them. We already have scrapped the magpie emblem in the SANFL in favour of a one club emblem that emphasizes the prison bars instead, so I would suggest this is where we feel our biggest link to history is. If we could have all clubs wearing the bars I'd be more than happy with both clubs being known as Port Adelaide.

Yeah I'm not sure why I wrote club. Every team in the club (to open the door for AFLW, SANFLW, whatever)

It's a very small minority. Probably 5% of 1500 people that actually go to games.

We kind of have ditched the magpie name, or the logo at the very least as both our sides use the current AFL logo. That's the reason we cant sell SANFL bars anymore, because they would have the AFL team's logo on it.
