I had the whole lot from edition 1 until they stopped, when i decided to move to Melb 2 years ago i threw them all out. Didn't have enough room in the car for them :(
It was a quality mag.

It got overwhelmed in the market by the net and all these shit hip-hop flavoured mags, that are essentially 150 pages of advertising for 'urban' products.

yeah when i moved out i did much the same. i would only have a handful now.

love looking back through them and lolling at some of the articles. one have a story on AI and stackhouse being the next "flight brothers" at philly. lol.

i also got sent a better version of pro basketball from the states via relos. it was nuts. cant remember the exact year but it was just after van exel was drafted by the lakers. awesome stuff.

in other printed media news, when i was at the lakers-rockets game back in 2001 i remember being given (for free!) a program guide of sorts for the game. its like the footy record for bball....except this was a classy publication (not like the record). it was like a full on magazine!

It sure was.

Before Dirk and Nash came to the Mavs I was a fan of Glen Rice and the Charlotte Hornets.

That entire 97/98 season I was filling up a scrapbook of Hornets' stats that I got entirely from PBT.
I loved the Hornets back then....i was a Knick fan firstly, but Anthony Mason was always my favorite player and i followed every Hornet game closely.
Mase was robbed in in 97 of an all star birth.
16.2 pts, 11.4 rebs, 5.7 assists. He and G-Money led them to a then franchise record season.
I'm still dirty.

Mase was a 6'6 PF, couldnt shoot, but he had a great 2-3 years with the Hornets. And he had 1 good year with Miami in about 2000. But he could really pass that ball.

In 97-98, the Hornets beat the Hawks 3-2 (Rice and Steve Smith went at it all series), then took home court from the Bulls in Round 2 after some clutch shooting from BJ Armstrong. For a minute I could see my Hornets ending the Bulls run.

Then Pippen put the clamps on Rice and the Bulls swept the next 3 games.

Then the lock-out, Rice was traded to the Lakers for Eddie Jones and Elden Campbell, I think Mase was traded away aswell, and that Divac-Geiger-Mason-Rice-Phills-Wesley-Dell Curry team came to an end.

I've got a stack of PBTs stashed away somewhere - not 10 years worth though - now that's dedication!
Stopped buying 'em around the Vince Carter rookie era. Like many others (I presume), I lost a lot of interest in the NBA once it went off FTA TV.

Bought One on One pretty regularly right from the first one with Gaze on the cover.

That Hornets vs Bulls series is on youtube, broken down into 8-10 minute clips. Watched a bit of it last week.

Oh shit...found out.
I've been a Boston fan since day 1.
