Hey Legends,

Stoked to share our upcoming new release, coming very soon to Steam (with other platforms to follow).

Pro Jank Footy is an absurd and over-the-top arcade sports game.

Think an over-the-top Aussie Rules Footy x NBA Jam arcade comedy-sports game.

With commentating from Aunty Donna's Broden Kelly and the creative minds of David Ashby and Dario Russo behind cult TV series Danger 5 and Italian Spiderman driving the humor, Pro Jank Footy is jam-packed with comedy, charm and Australianisms.

We'd love any support, and if it's of interest, please add it to your Wishlist. Will keep this thread updated with news, updates and would love to get your feedback along the journey!

What sort of timeframe are you looking at for consoles? Looks like a lot of fun. I feel like the simplicity of it would make for good couch multiplayer with my kids.

It will likely depend on how our Early Access goes, what feedback we receive regarding changes, etc.

But at this stage, we would likely see a Steam release first, followed by Switch, and then other platforms.

The current timeline is for a full Steam release by the start of the next footy season (with Demo/Early Access coming far sooner), so I would expect to see the other platforms/consoles in the months following.

Sounds good. I've wishlisted it on Steam at least to see how it goes.

Also I actually just read your username and remember it from the Survivor days. Survivor, magic, game dev. Man of many talents!

Would you guys consider doing a pixel art simulation footy game after this one, similar to Legend Bowl?

Unlikely we'd do another footy game (unless this goes gangbusters I guess), its more likley we'd investigate other sports.

Demo has already dropped on Steam.

Initial thoughts: addictive. I could see myself spending time on it. Broden's commentary is brilliant.

First experience so far though is very one sided. Like a lot of these games it's very NBA Jam deck stacked against you. My tackles must be pixel perfect to land, and even if they do, no chance of a free. Meanwhile I touch them and it's a free kick. I'm sure the more I play to more I'll get the hang of it, but frustrating at times. And yes, obviously I need to get good to a reasonable extent.

Having the same button for passing and kicking seems crazy. You can not take a quick shot at goal because it's physically impossible, all kicks need to be charged. Coupled with getting mowed down the second you charge up a kick and yeah, frustrating. That said, I know I need to try and figure out the fend off timing.

It's also very just kick and hope since you can't see up field, and the camera seems to lag so by the time the ball bounces your opponent already has it before you even know where your players are.

These are my gripes so far but that's not overall reflective of the game, just more suggestions for the devs. As I said, it's a lot of fun. The powerups are a good time, even if some are very OP. Hopefully the full game comes with a difficulty slider. I could definitely see my kids and me having some laughs with this. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for release.

thanks for feedback, plenty more polish to come! Feel free to jump in the discord and communicate that way too. cheers!

Id say that the better player usualy wins, but like mario kart, you can jank your way to victory with the power ups.

Its more comedy than truly competitive in that sense.

Play a couple of games in the demo without the power up cards to get a hag of the controls and the two button approach means in the heat of the chaos you don’t have to fumble with complicated controls. Here’s a Full match I recorded first quarter I used some link up plays, kick mark etc. Although once you get the hang of marking the cards take your arms away :)

Yeah, that ruined the game for me, there's no way kicking and handballing should be the same button.

I really hated being run down from behind all the time, because opposition players randomly gain superspeed from 5 metres away without any powerup, reminded me of those horrible AFL 23/26 superspeed glitches.

It's really unfair as the user needing to be precisely over the CPU opposition ball carrier to tackle when the CPU can easily tackle with those random bursts of speed from behind.

Yeah and the odd occasion I'd be in the perfect place to receive a ball with a bit of space, I'd still get mowed down literally the split second I grabbed it. Yet when I try and do the same thing it's holding the man.

I feel like that's where the game will shine, with a human player on each side to equalise it. Just tricky for those of us that prefer to play solo.
