What - yet another from WA? It's all very well being indigenous and female, but it seems that since Goyder took over as Chairman, the AFL has become WA centric.

It's the AFL, not the WAFL!

Maybe its got something to do with the number of WA indigenous players in the AFL system.

The WAFC had a had an indigenous Commissioner since 2011, & he was a fine footballer too !

I'd like to know what connection to our game that Dr Milroy has, no argument with her public service CV to date. I'm not a fan of the AFL taking positions in public debates as it did in the recent same sex rerendum. I'd like to think the good doctor at least follows the game, doesnt need to be an Eagles fan, see how open minded I am?

Best I can find is that she's a psychologist who specialises in children and adolescents...I suppose their could be some crossover with junior sports, but it doesn't seem like here qualifications really match up all that well with a position on the AFL Commision. I'd hate to think the appointment was mainly to tick off (defacto/informal) quotas.

Thats a very impressive group and a good mixture of talent.

She’s a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist not psychologist* - big difference!

I remember her from my uni days. She was inspiring as a lecturer and a motivational speaker , and down to earth as the mother of one of our classmates.

Congratulations and all the best to Prof Milroy :)

Yep, I interviewed her once, or more accurately tried to get her to write something for me.

Everyone told me she was "scary" - literally, a white woman in the press office at UWA said that! - but she was great, gave me lots of her time, we had a great chat.

(This may or may not have been helped by my rapidly turning the conversation to the Krakouer brothers)

For any who may care - and even for the vast hordes that don't - here's the state of origin stats for the AFL Commission.

WA - 3 (including the chairperson)
NSW - 3
Vic - 3
SA - 1 (but it is the CEO)

Queensland can feel aggrieved.

But, but, isn't the AFL basically just the VFL with a makeover paid for with West Australian money????????
