TomP if you are reading please please please get this add pulled it makes the club look very amateurish goes against everything the DNA campaign has been so far.
Up until now the DNA campaign has looked first class and very professional but this latest effort is very poor indeed

I think you'll find he's quite highly regarded amongst the people who count at the club. He does an enormous amount for the club for zilch. When Stevie J was going through his penance Billy was terrific support for him. He's also close to Joel Selwood. Some of the things he does make me cringe too. But there isn't a person who is more passionate about the club or more willing to put in than Billy. So, as a former coach (forget his name) said, "leave him alone"

Correct, but there is certainly more than one way to skin a cat, and I would prefer if we didn't stray to the lowest common denominator.

They must be working on an 80/20 rule but the question is are they trying to keep members or attract new ones?
I don't think the answer is obvious.

Maybe they are tapping into the wide appeal of brownless.

It would have worked if they had a different voice over. Even if it was the creepy guy from the original DNA vid.

And it could have gone a step up if they had other 'chemists' in the lab.
Bob Davis, Harley etc.

But for mine, it's all about the shit sound. It's like he is reading it in the toilet, and struggling with the lines.

I think most agree the clip is unprofessional. I've said as much several times. What I don't get is the kicking Billy is getting over it. My guess is the club has asked for his help in doing it. Presented him with the script in keeping with the image he portrays and he does what the club asks. Let's place the blame for what is an ordinary effort where it belongs.

Low grade clip as it is, I reckon the reaction of some is over the top.

What's irritating is that from 2007 onwards the club finally ran itself properly - professional, dignified, responsible. Clearly stating their aim to become a great club and keep moving towards that goal. Not accepting mediocrity or second best. Avoiding premature statements or idiotic predictions. Focus solely on what the football team does on the field.

This ad unfortunately goes back to that era. Brownless symbolises the way things were at Geelong - near enough is good enough if you're a humourous buffoon. I'd rather make a statement with Chris Scott, Cameron Ling and Joel Selwood (for example), on the way things are.

If you actually made a clip like this to look deadly serious all the way through it would be an absolute wank, IMO. I am glad the humour is there, and Billy was the perfect fit. People getting on here for a last minute 2010 whinge (and there's been plenty of it lately) might need a bit of a tug themself to cheer em up for Xmas Either that or cut and loop the last ten seconds for effect

Rubbish - the club shouldn't be preaching to the converted. The clip should make a statement about intent and get people exicted about the path ahead, this was just low grade comedy. Is that what this club is now?

Guys it's a poorly conceived and poorly executed YouTube clip. Nothing more. Nothing less. If I were looking at what is a poor reflection on the club I'd be more directing my attention to the membership voting stuff-up.

If it had been executed better, it would be funny. As it stands, it might as well be a segue between an ad break and The Footy Show.

And for the record - The Footy Show is absolute tripe.


Edit: It's not really Billy's fault that this clip sucks, because he has his style and that's what he knows. Whoever thought Billy would be a good idea for this clip should be marched out back though.
