That reminds me as we were headed out of the afl members a group of fans stopped to take photo's with lethal's statue then a group gathered & we belted out the song with such fervour! After all the loses & the curse the monkey was off the back, it really meant so much. The noise was something else for sure. I must have watched the last quarter a dozen times it really is a great pick me up

I honestly reckon at a conservative estimate I would've watched just Burgoyne's goal alone and the roar after it about 40 times hahaha

I don't believe in destiny or anything like that, but if there was ever an occurrence of it, the 2013 prelim was it.
After grabbing the game that really mattered in 08, we suffered through 11, often heartbreaking losses were they regularly came from behind in the last.
It took until the next time a game really mattered for us to win, ironically coming from behind in the last.
It was fate. As one poster said, 'we were always going to win that'. Sure didn't fee like at the time though

Actually, apart from the second game of 2009, it was Hawthorn coming back from extraordinary margins, only for a series of unfortunate events at the end

Rd 1 2009 we were 40 odd points down, 50 odd in the tom Hawkins game just off the top of my head

Unfortunately, people have small memories, and only see the last portion of a game

Geelong in that era would always go on to blow their opponent away when they got such a lead, apart from us

I think that subconsciously has an effect of cats fans too
