Just to let you know this is what TF have in place and this is how eventually I'd like our league to look:

Salary cap, 3 captains (each team), draft, B&F medal, Media Medal, Peoples choice POTY, no free agency, trades only, if no trade can be arranged, player goes into draft.
OK, on what you've said;

Salary Cap - Simply won't work, players will just take base salary. It's not like TFAFL, there's no vBookie, so there's no point to it.

3 Captains - Again, I don't think this will work. I'm all for a leadership group who can step in for the captain, and having a team owner reigning over the captain like Deestroy does at the Dees, but 3 captains are just stupid.

Draft - Fair enough, but is it organized through activity or ladder position?

B&F Medal - Most well run clubs already have this, and more.

Media Medal - Who'd award the votes, you? Opposition captain (ie, Hawks vs Shagons, wally votes for the shagons best, P4L votes for the Hawks best, cross over system?)

People's choice POTY - Already have team one's going, though a league one will work.

Trades only - Agree. Player can walk, but have no control on where they go. I think it's fair enough.

My take on everything TFLUA., don't forget the all-league team.

I don't want this competition to be like TF and I'm sure others don't either. The BFFFL is its own competition and has been that way for some time. Introducing this type of stuff is rubbish in my opinion and is just a carbon copy of what TF has done and the comp would lose its indiciduality. I'm sure others would feel the same way.

I don't see the point in complicating a concept which has worked well for so long. If anything, you should be focusing on recruiting more posters to the competition rather than changing things to make things more difficult.
Hear, here??? ;)

TFLUA, if you need aby help, as BM said (for himself), I too am happy to help.

TFAFL can be a bit of ajoke TBH, Kerrby, being a newbie, probably doesn't see it, but there are a few obvious flaws in TFLUA's plan as far as working for this league, the majority being his first two suggestions.
Thankyou, someone who finally sees the truth. Turning this comp into a TF clone is ludicrous and we already have some of these concepts going on anyway (i.e Player of the year, B&F's, etc.). Having a Draft and Trades is fine, I have no problem with those things becoming a part of the BFFFL.

However, having a salary cap and then forcing teams to have three captains is rather flawed and I don't think it has a place here. We should be working on trying to get captains of certain sides to post rather than assigning three capatins to a team.

Couldn't agree more. TFLUA, Scrap the captains and salary cap idea. Let the team decide how the captains are worked out. Salary won't work, simple as that.

No no no! No to all of them. A trade period mid season I agreed to. The ability to create a team of posters you want in your team and that want to be in your team is what this league is about. Free agency should definitely stay in the off season. That is the way all BigFooty competitions have always worked.

Salaray cap wouldn't work, would just create extra hassle.

3 captains, pointless. The captain owns the team, he shouldn't be forced to lose some control.

Draft I am unsure of. For new players perhaps, but I still like the idea of free agency.

The SFA is it's own comp. IMO, a much better comp than TF. It should stay that way and be unique to this league.

Some of the key points I picked out. Team captains and players of specific sides should be the only ones who have a say in what happens in their club, not the admin, nor what the rules say. Taking away this points the competition towards a totalitarian rule (i.e. no-one has any say). You can't force teams to have a set number of captains, that is just stupid.

Having a salary cap is pointless, this isn't a TF clone and having a salary cap won't work here. We are trying to make the competition easy to follow, not confuse new members with endless amounts of numbers about how much they're worth and how much they can earn.

This is the BFFFL, let's leave it that way.

Look it was just an idea and I was going to get feedback before doing anything.

The first points, ie captains and salary cap are scrapped.

Draft is a maybe, more discussion on that closer to the end of the season.

Thanks for the feedback, and Ljp I'll take constructive criticism but anything bordering on outright abuse and you can f off.

Few good points raised, cheers lads.

Maybe the the odd change may help SFA, but not all. :thumbsu:

I really think that a draft is a good idea, but unlike the AFL, I think it should consist of both new players, and dropped players.

Aha, you've read my mind. That's how I had planned it out too.
Excellent:). It would be good if there we're enough numbers to make up the two seperate drafts but, what can you do? Maybe the cimpetition could be advertised in some form? I was on here for over a year before I discovered this forum:D.

Re draft week, too TFLUA, maybe what can occur is a player recrui9ted during a season is "loaned" to the team. At the end of the season, the player takes a position in the draft, and, for example, say each team has 6 picks, the team can 'put aside' a pick for their loaned player before the draft. Would encourage posting between n00bs as far as I can see.

Or we could possibly run a few recruitment games to seperate the good from the bad?

I liked it, but it would be awfully hard to monitor.

Would this ideally start this sesason or next?

If it started this season, players picked up in the last 5 weeks of the season would be on loan and then go into the draft.

So we're doing a draft?

Not happy at all. I will not be using selections. I still feel that the SFA is better because of free agency.

No, we're discussing the options. As far as I can see though, there's no problem with a draft, and it may help teams like the Roys and Wonders as far as recruiting posting players is concerned.

I'm sure TFLUA will base his decision on what the competition wants, and I rate you and your team highly, as you know.

It's not a definite.

It's merely in proposal stage.

So you don't want an end of season trade week and draft?

I find that it makes it better for weaker clubs, stops posters abandoning ship for no compensation.

But who's fault is it if a team is doing crap? It's that team's fault. When I got the Hawks they weren't posting much at all, but over the last year I've recruited the players I want, to play for me that has built the side up into one of the better teams in the comp. It's their responsibility, and I'm all for helping them recruit new players. But if I want to recruit a player from outside of the league, I don't want to take the risk of them being picked up by a different side.

But how do you get rid of Kerr at the Wonders, or even his two henchmen who do nothing in HA and EKA. They need someone who makes the hard decisions, and how do they get that if those people are being able to walk out of the club for free.
