Hurn was a clownshoes.

Liked Swift.

I know its really early (being the first match of the year) and everything but seriously what can we take away from last night other than the usual young players that performed well? The entire team blatently ignored the new game plan of going down the guts which was extremely dissapointing to watch. Last night we only kicked 6 goals but to be honest I wouldn't have given a shit if we'd only kicked 2 so long as we showed a real attempt at going down the middle of the ground. That was clearly not evident and for me was extremely dissapointing.

Also the fact we kicked 3 of our 6 goals from behind 50 should be more worrying to everyone than a good thing in terms of our game plan and forward line structure and ability.

pros:kerr-showed everyone how it should be done

cockie:showed his more experienced teammates, what you can achieve when you have a red hot crack.

swift:very pleased with with this boy.was composed and used the ball effectively

mckenzie:was doing well on cloke till injured.looks to have improved which is pleasing.

cons:nicoski-dont care how many possies he got.turned it over by just bombing it as he always does.back to wafl till learns how to hit targets.

bones:as above

fletcher:slow, ineffective.spend year in wafl then retire

wilkes:not up to it.as simple as that

gameplan:ring a ring a rosy with handball.the same as last year.its gonna be another year.

Agree with you again Lachy. I know it was his first game in ages and everything but every time I watch Hurn now I really get the same feeling I have of Staker. They could be very good players but is it going to happen?

Agree with everything you said besides those two points. Don't think MacKenzie rated a mention however Spangher did and Bones was his usual serviceable self.

He'd be wasted on a wing. When he gets some weight he could be anything
Yep, but right now the Eagles will play him on the wing. They do that to all the new light-framed draftees by playing them in a position where they can settle in. (Masten in forward pocket, Ebert on the wing, Scooter at half-back). I dont think he will be thrown straight in the centre.

Also I agree with bb, the sooner Naita gets fit, the sooner we should get him in the side.

Thanks for all these opinions and perspectives... good info as due to bbq at friends missed the game. ALthough it looks painful scoreboar-wise, Id be interested to see a replay to catch Cockie and Swift in action...

Anyone seen a torrent or anything anywhere for it?

Edit - found it... http://www.demonoid.com/files/details/1791209/775222/

Just to add to that question. Are these preseason games being replayed on Fox?

i was pleased with what i saw of mckenzie last year, and i was pleased with him last night,is going to be a very good backman.is competitive and does well in 1 on 1s.

you obviously dont see what i do.

As for bones. He frustrates the hell out of me.Gets the ball ,stupidly plays on,runs himself into trouble, stops and panics, gets confronted by an opposing player,so just throws it on the boot and bombs away.

If you are happy with him doin that fine, but im sure as hell not.Nicoski does the same.between the pair of them they are good to concede 4-5 goals a game from turning it over in the back half.

Mate if hes doing that then to me he is following the new game plan. No one else did. Bones is a gun in my book and if everyone else backed him he wouldn't be "bombing away" he'd be kicking it to a leading player either going back or coming to him. Sorry but I am gonna stick up for Bones all day.

Not concerned with the result. Does not matter the result.

But still no sign at all of any change to plan and there is no excuse for that. The whole list works on the so called new plan and they seem totally lost when they get the ball.

And still our forward line has 20 players in it and the other end has an open forward line.

I am sure they are working hard on many changes but they can change anything they like, but until they stop manning up on spare men in our forward line and congesting your own forward line we simply will never kick a winning score. Just put your spare men in the oppositions forward line and make it a stand off. battle of the midfields until someone changes something.
Every coach does it to us because they know woosha will man them up. Win Win for the opposition every week. Its almost laughable now. And the funniest thing is next game it will happen again.
How can it be a suprise to anyone that our forwards struggled to perform? They have no chance to perform in that set up, might as well just sit the game out if your a forward at West Coast.

well if your happy for him to cost us a couple of goals a game through sheer stupidity then your a more patient man than i.we are pushing shit uphill when we have guys conceding goals through turnovers that can be avoided.you can back him all day, every day,but i cant and wont be until he changes his ways.

don't get your hopes up, your only 1 of 2 teams to play a game so far. and since collingwood didn't play anyone new then it goes without reason that since we have seen them play that they will go up in the rankings,

If Palmer was around Masten would have no chance.

Axctually wasn't Masten picked AHEAD of Palmer?

Give it a year or two, and you'll see why we had good reason.
