Prospects Thread

I know this is early (and there is room for improvement), but this current list of youth collectively don't excite me.

Rioli, Markov and Menadue are exciting prospects. There are a couple of other decent players, but comparative to the youth some other teams have, I don't think our youth are as good.

Wouldn't put them in the top 8 of the competition.
I agree - I think Rioli, Markov and Menadue will all be very fine players, Rioli will likely end up being a top-liner, the other two very good.
The rest don't excite me much.
I'd love to think Lennon will just turn around and it will click, but it's not looking all that promising.

Problem being Elton is not a prospect - he's going into his sixth year, if they allow him to go on?
Is Brad Hill a prospect? taken seven spots below Elton and has three premierships and 80-odd games.
Sam Kerridge taken one spot in front of Elton has 48 games. Chad Wingard taken pick 6 has 107 games. Luke dalhaurs pick 60 has almost 100.
Elton is not a prospect, he's been in the system five years.

elton is a prospect, for delisting
you can delete him from my post too if you like, i just included him because someone else did,

What is it with Lennon?

Is it a lack of games? Is it his illness and injuries this year? I dont know. I hope it all clicks for him too.

He did some good things against the joel dangerwoods and patty selfields but also did some average things.

Not very wise to write off young fellows to early, some can improve quickly and leave us with egg on our face. Plenty of things come into play with the young fellows such as settling in, moving interstate ( for some) injuries, learning what is required of them and opportunities. I think we as supporters should do just that support them and the club and give them time

True, but I want evidence before I rate an aspect of Richmond from now on. Far too often do I get my hopes up only to find that I was being overly optimistic.

IMO a combination. Was obviously underdone and ran out of steam, but I'm certain his axing for the 2015 final still does not sit well.
That and the fact that we are terrible at developing players that are anything but elite.
Let's not kid ourselves, this kid was drafted with a view to being a medium forward who would push into the midfield at times. Doubts were expressed pre-draft whether he had the motor to be a midfielder and those doubts have been proven. Even when fit and up and about he could not be considered as a midfielder. Probably wouldn't surprise you but he played little midfield in the TAC Cup, so were we reaching? I think so. His defensive running was also questionable - so a perfect fit for the Tigers. I acn see him making a fist of things for a year or three elsewhere. Just think he's quickly gone stale with us. I reckon 2015 was an important year for him but we basically played Newman ahead of him (don't get me started there) so we wasted a year of development.

Is it or is it your tiger glasses.
Is it a better list of prospects than what other clubs have got.ATM there is not an A grader amongst any of them..

Obviously tiger glasses partly - because I am a fan.

But I see some guys with elite attributes. Whether they develop I don't know. But I reckon CEllis, Menadue, Markov, Lennon, Rioli could all be A grade. Emphasis on COULD.

Disagreement is fine - eye of the beholder and all that. We will only know in time.

I think they are talking about a prospect for lolnorf although he may be young still

Re. Lennon, do you think he has had a fair crack at it though?
Shit run with injury but his omission for the EF last year was very poor man management IMO.

Edit - sorry, just read further and found you essentially already answered....

:) His omission was particularly harsh (and that of Lloyd also ad proved detrimental, which I don't think you needed the benefit of hindsight for) and it certainly stalled his momentum. His game two weeks previous was ultra-impressive.
Not every first round pick is Bontempelli or Weitering and comes in and tears it up - or even Rioli, who plays 17 games and is coming in to his end - but Lennon was miles off it for his first year and a hlaf which I would argue a top 12/12 pick should be playing more.
I did hear, despite his issues, he was still quite bitter re his finals omission this year.
As for man management/development, we are notoriously bad. The elite guys like Riewoldt and Martin prosper regardless as they just have it (so did Lids early on during a period where our best players were the elite Richo and recruits from outside like Brown, Johnson and Simmonds), few seem to kick on.

It is amazing that we would give Elton a 2 year deal, after he played 2 games in his first 4 years.
Duds must love getting drafted by RFC!
Not Eltons fault it is list management. And funnily enough the same sort of list management mistakes continue to be perpetrated by those in charge they just dont learn.
I could understand one year they obviously still think he can become a good player, sometimes it does take talls a lot longer to click. But two years on the back of what he has produced so far is insanity.

i did read that moore was a key position player on the tiger website, they even used versatile as a descriptor and have had him at both the centre half key positions in the VFL at time but, I couldn't tell what position he was playing on sunday

Hahaha, I can't tell what position most of our forwards are playing most of the time either!
