Jaryd Cachia was first recruited to Carlton in the 2010 AFL Rookie Draft, from the Northern Knights and spent two years on the Rookie List developing his game with the Northern Bullants.
He was released by the Club to pursue greater opportunities with Norwood, in the SANFL and went on to play a pivotal role in the Redlegs 2012 Premiership season.
He also finished off the year polling in the top five in the SANFL Magarey Medal.
Shane described Jaryd as a tough inside midfielder with great hands and an outstanding work ethic.
“Everyone is excited to have him back at Carlton.”![]()

Jaryd Cachia tomorrow renews acquaintance with the Carlton Football Club, having been drafted as a first round rookie for the second time in as many seasons.
“I don’t know how to explain it - to return to the club which gave me a chance in the first place to have a crack at AFL level,” Cachia said from Adelaide today. “All I can say is that I’m coming back to a new club with a new coach, a new captain and a new me.
“I’m excited by the fact that another opportunity presents itself, that I’m getting a second chance and that Mick Malthouse is the new coach. I can’t wait to get back, I’ll be on the flight tonight and I’ll start training tomorrow.”
All of our project players have finished their projected development and are now considered ready for the big time. I hope that the club released Jaryd with the promise that if he did well in SA then we would look at picking him up again in the rookie draft this year.I don't think I can remember a time when there were less 'project' players on our list. So many blokes who can come in and contribute at senior level if called upon. Cachia seems a pretty determined bloke, and he obviously took his delisting with good grace to be allowed back. Hope he has a big year...
Buckley, Lucas, Watson, Rowe, O'Keefe, Bootsma McCarthy, Mitchell, McInnes, Davies, Casboult, Bell and our 3 picks in the ND and Cachia all say hi. But I take your point. Apart from those 15project players, all our other project players have finished their projected development (like Warnock, Hampson, Kreuzer, Henderson, Joseph, Ellard, White, Laidler and Tuohy) and are clearly not going to get any better. ??All of our project players have finished their projected development and are now considered ready for the big time.
No cage? That could be some fun viewing.
"Two men enter, I man leaves. Bell and Cachia battle it out in bare knocking boxing for the prized #28 jumper"

Impressively handled by Neeld. Like Neeld who hasn't mucked around in cutting the players he didn't rate and re-shaping the list by bringing in mature players. For better or worse.
Good point... the 3 guys from the ND need to develop and boots and Buckley needs a bit more time. But everyone else you mentioned should be good to go at this point in time.Buckley, Lucas, Watson, Rowe, O'Keefe, Bootsma McCarthy, Mitchell, McInnes, Davies, Casboult, Bell and our 3 picks in the ND and Cachia all say hi. Couttsy is gone, all will be well soon.More importanly how much cooler was the Melbourne soundtrack than CFCTV...surely that's the real issue here.
saints didn't have a pick at the rookie draft thoughSt Kilda would likely have taken Collins at pick 25 had we not taken him at 24.
Where the hell is that garrulous fella?
Writing letters to the editor about bringing back capital punishment and stabbing pins into a Mick Malthouse voodoo doll.Where the hell is that garrulous fella?
Look forward to seeing him back some time soon.
Maybe, but he does add something to the board as a whole.
Probably the poster that gets quoted more than any other so debate is engaged.
Such a difficult process when one said head has been stuck there for so long.He certainly adds something, not sure that something is positive though.
There's a difference between a debate and an argument. There was no debating with him and I, along with most others, was fed up.
I hope he's not welcomed back until such time as he removes his head from his rectum.
