GREAT WORK TIGERS FINALLY WE HAVE COME TO OUR SCENCES UNLIKE PREVIOUSE YEARS WITH PICKS SUCH AS JON,LOUNDER,BEINKE,S.JACKSON,BRENNAN SLATER AND THE LIST COULD GO ON AND ON WE HAVE FINALLY SHOWED BALLS IN THIS CHOICE AND U NEED TO BE APPULAED WELL DONE TIGERS.
AND FOR ALL THOSE PEOPLE ON HERE THAT DONT BARRACK FRO THE TIGERS WE DONT EVEN CARE WHAT YOU THINK JUST GET ON UR OWN CLUBS SITES WE NO THIS IS THE MOST INTERESTING ONE:eek:
COUSINS FOR XMAS IT CAME TRUE

yes i am aware he wasnt there, the orginal poster was not aware he was involved at all

Where exactly has Rockliff, who has been training with Melbourne who had pick #1 in the PSD and Rookie draft, been linked to Richmond at all, let alone to pick #6 ??? ALL I have seen is Gourdis and Klemke and find it had to believe that you would choose a player who isn't even training with you, has BARELY been mentioned on your BF boards (not that that means too much, but if you Tigers supporters REALLY believed he was going to be sellected there would be A LOT more talk about it than the occasional meantioning of his name in a couple of threads) and could quite possibly not even be available at your selection ...........

Yeah another player to add to the other 9. Another player to add to the other 2 we added this year. It is always just this one time, and one more won't hurt.

I wish people would stop saying we have injected a lot of youth over the last few years, we have done no more than the average club has done in regards to national draft selections.

yea but what are you trying to say man ?

think of how much better deledio, cotchen, edwards, foley are going to be after gaining exp from cousins, judd said himself that he role modelled cousins.

What would you have done differently beava ?

it's the pre draft ffs, since when do you get good players out of that beside recycled ones ?

I wouldn't have traded picks for players, I would have tried to improve our draft position, I would have got rid of Pettifer and gone for 6 new kids. We now have a hole in the 18-19 yr olds on our list. I would be aiming to win a premiership in 4 years time. We should still be able to make finals for the next 2 years.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but FWIW I was at dinner with Rodney Eade last Thursday and when the Ben Cousins question came up, he mentioned that he expected Richmond to be serious players come finals time with the inclusion of Cousins.

Are you still on about these 18 -19 year olds

there will be more in next years draft.

OK well you not just talking about one thing then are you your talking about richmonds whole draft stratergy.

All i got o say about that is i am very happy at what we have achieved in the draft over the last couple of seasons, to me it and will always be luck of the draw type senario!!!!!

if you ask me none of the players we received last season have been wasted, all have performed and made our team better. (NAB and trade period)

back onto the subject of benny, there was two choices to be made, gamble on a young players who hasn't got any proven talent at the elit lvl or gamble on an elit exp player who might be over the hill, but will bring valuable exp and talent....

Good thing about our drafting the last two years is that it has addressed list needs, with the exception of McMahon. Bad thing is that we are relying on too few players to make the grade.

I like Mcmahon dude.

And i can cetainly agree with the latter, but i must say i have more faith after seeing how they played last year, too me it was more of a when than an if!!!!

Fair dinkum beaver you are like the Terminator. You just keep coming.
If it was Nahas we promised we'd take with pick 6, we got him in the rookie. If it was Gourdis, we got him in the rookie. If it was Rockliff, Brisbane beat us to it anyway.
So what you are really bleating about is that Richmond chose Ben Cousins over pick 72 in the rookie draft, which we passed on. That's a kid overlooked 150+ times in two drafts. That will surely bite us on the arse.

Processes mate, processes.

Well done tigers. Glad someone got him. Hes a gun, and deserves a comeback!
Just please dont become another Carlton and expect a GF in 09! You guys, minus Judd have far exceeded Carltons efforts in 08. So thats something big to build on right there! Add a brownlow medalist to the list, and sky's the limit i think.
GL :D

I'm just so glad that Richmond hasn't bowed down to the AFL, or the fact that every other club seemingly didn't want Cousins.

This club stood up and I believe the final decision is the correct one. Cousin's on field ability cant underestimated and as long as we can keep his off-field behaviour in check, no doubt we have a ready made superstar on our hands.

Thankyou Richmond FC.

I love you benny, good work to the tigers for picking him up. I might watch some more richmond games now! :)

Well done Tigers on recruiting Ben and giving him a chance. And well done to see passionate supporters using their voice. I hope it all works out well for both the club and Ben. If there was any Victorian club I could handle seeing him at it is the Tiges. Best of luck for '09! :thumbsu:

Well done Tigers . :thumbsu:
Good luck Ben Cousins ,hope your worst is behind you and you become a welcomed aquisition to Richmond. Just dont play well against us .lol:D
