DELISTED AFL players have little hope of resurrecting their careers in the AFL pre-season draft, with at least three of the six clubs with selections firmly committed to youth.
Recruiting managers at Melbourne, Port Adelaide, Essendon, Carlton, the Brisbane Lions and Richmond have identified the spectre of the new AFL team on the Gold Coast and, further down the track, western Sydney, as the basis for their decisions.
Essendon is keen to snare Port Melbourne's pint-sized speedster Robin Nahas in either the AFL pre-season or rookie drafts on December 16.
The Bombers, who are holding their cards close to their chest in the lead-up to the draft, are aiming to replenish their midfield and ruck stocks, according to list manager Adrian Dodoro.
Nahas, 20, is one of the most explosive midfielders in the VFL and played all 22 games this year with the Borough.
The scintillating ball-winner was Port's second-best goalkicker with 49 and was Victoria's best in the state game against South Australia in May, culminating in him being named the league's best young player.
Better be for a rookie spot. He can play but he is way too small and gets knocked of the ball very easily. At 20 i doubt he will get a whole lot bigger.
IMO would be a waste of a pick .
I remember people having questions about Alwyn's height in the lead up to the draft. He turned out alright![]()

He was more physically developed & faster than Nahas even at that stage when we first drafted Alwyn. May not have read it on the scales, but you could just see it by the way they dealt with different kinds of physical pressure.

Yep, the AFL has let him down, we know he can play footy. Live away from Perth, great support network at Essendon, worth the risk I think.
