Re: PSD Pick Poll

i picked Rockliff because he has some impressive statistics...but then I heard that he's a selfish player. Can't say I've seen him play, but can anyone who has comment on this?

I'd like to see Cockie in Red and Black. He's got potential to have that IT factor and he had a decent season at Subi. The games I saw he was a hard runner, and a strong tackle. Klemke is another who I haven't seen, but from what I've read and the people I've spoken to he has the same potential as Cockie, but he's a bit smaller so I think that disadvantaged him at the ND.

And that ladies, gentlemen and undisclosed would be my 3 preferences.

Re: PSD Pick Poll

Sounds good. What do you recon about Meyer though. I actually recon he is worth the risk, and is a pretty good user of the ball. Staying fit has been his issue but as a PSD pick I recon he is worth a punt:thumbsu:

17 games in 3 years in the system is hardly impressive stats, has always been there abouts, in out in out, not really stamped himself in an ordinary side, thats all, has been linked extensively with Port, as stated before, I would really like Cockie, has the body to play round 1 next year, and the more games we get into him the better it will be in the long run.

am a little hesitant over picking players who have already had chances at clubs to prove themselves, obviously some players are better chances than others, Jason Davenport for example, could not crack a gig in the leagues best side, despite winning there B&F, he is a player I would of liked to have chased, but it wasnt to be, someone like Meyer though, hasnt really stood out, even in VFL level, so cant really look at him, just my two cents.

Re: PSD Pick Poll

Luke Jericho is someone that has been forgotten. His performance against Richmond earlier in the year was impressive.

Worth a look?

I'm all for keeping somone like Skipworth around the club in a player development/mentoring role. However, as a player I don't think he will add anything to the list.

Would be happy to go with an untried kid.

Re: PSD Pick Poll

One of Tom Allwright or Clancee Pearce would be my choice. Both of them seem to have good skills that can be refined and pretty good pace also. Neither will become stars but look solid picks that have a high chance of making it at AFL level.

They both play or can play small defender and I still think this is an area we need to reinforce so not only do I think they are good bets to make it they also fill a need, a two for one so to speak.

Allwright is a mid, but a very good one at that, good at the stoppages, clean hands, good over head, I like pearce too, but do we need another HBFer, we already have, in no order, Nash/Houli/Myers?/Winderlich/Lovett-Murray to name a few, could we snare Chris Johnson before Carlton do, they apparently have Greg Bentley training with them as a back up plan if Johnson goes before there pick.

Re: PSD Pick Poll

Allwright is both a midfielder and defender. And all the players you listed can play as HBF's but are too talk to play as small defenders, which is what I said (apart from Houli who you would hope is moved into a proper midfield role in the near future as you shouldn't waste talent in the back pocket).

Allwright and pearce are 185cm and 183cm respectively and IMO have the skills to turn into good shutdown defenders. We only have Slattery and Atkinson as true small defenders (not counting McVeigh and Welsh and maybe a couple others who are better elsewhwere) and if they don't progress any further we could be in trouble with small forwards in the future. So no, I don't think we have too many players like them.

Re: PSD Pick Poll

Ian Richardson looks like a classy left footer. Anyone know anything about him?

Re: PSD Pick Poll

I think Knights will take a underage player in the PSD - a potential top 10er next year.

Re: PSD Pick Poll

Who on earth is voting Ben Cousins: more importantly, WHY?

I want legit reasons!

Re: PSD Pick Poll

Pretty sure you cant take bottom agers in PSD gentlemen which would rule out Hill and Mangan.
Gaertner or Paddy Hayes for me.
The best potential small defender/ tagger unaligned to an AFL club in my opinion is Ben Jolley.

Re: PSD Pick Poll

De Boer.

Unbelievable he didn't get drafted...

Re: PSD Pick Poll

Best available ruckman I reckon... unless they are all pure duds!

Re: PSD Pick Poll

We really need to go for a ruckman...

... But Van Berlo is just an awesome name and would make our list look way cooler.

Infact he could be a ruckman as I don't know anything about these players:D

Re: PSD Pick Poll

So for all the idiots who think we should definitely pass on De boer simply because he has a bad efficiency rate.

Tell me this... Who would you take?

A player with pure football ability (De Boer), but just has a bad tendancy for kicking.?

or

A player who can kick a footy well, but has no football IQ at all. (Dyson, lol)?

Re: PSD Pick Poll

Adam Cockie>De Boer

I really wouldn't be happy with De Boer, he isn't what we need.
IMO Cockie has the makings of a great player if he works extremely hard, I wouldn't be dissapointed with him, C. Johnson(highly unlikely), a ruckman or even Cousins. Not De Boer.
My opinion, think of it as you wish.

Re: PSD Pick Poll

Whoever Carlton want.

Pay them whatever they ask for and then play them in the Bendigo reserves for two years.

Is not going to help the team, but would be funny.
