PSD/Rookie Draft

Wouldnt be unhappy with Wright. Having a mid 20's player to teach the younger guys isn't all bad. I reckon he's as good if not better than Menzel. Has defensive skills. And a rebuild can't be full on kids. Look at GWS. Wright seems like the right type to me.

Looks a younger, slightly smaller version of Armfield to be honest :D but with a few more skills.

Probably gone by 19 though.
With the academy kids he probably goes mid teens anyway.
Rumours from the AFL website suggest that he wouldnt get past Bitchmond at pick 12 anyway.

Yeah nah on Wright. Not quite young enough, not quite good enough and we have others I would rather get games into. I'd think a PSD pick is unlikely.

Great minds huh.....
Just worried about Bitchmond trying to retaliate by bidding on Jack with pick 12.

But I think that if Bitchmond did that, Steve would just say "Sorry Jack, looks like you have to go and play for Bitchmond for two years... try and be as crap as possible and we'll pick you up in 2 years time".

Ah they won't do that.
Too much at stake to worry about that.

Why would any club do that? They all but burn the pick 12 they were dead set on keeping just because the player they wanted went early?

So with all the delistings, how many DFAs/PSD picks are we likely to use?
Seeing as we are currently sitting 36/4/1 with our list, including the incoming draft picks and SOSOS and people are saying that we can upgrade Wood, Sheehan and Byrne and the AFL will just keep giving us draft picks at the end of the draft... I have no ****ing idea any more.

It could be, IMO, that we are going to either upgrade 2 rookies and recruit 4 new rookies to give us 38/6/1 or we are going to take 1 DFA, 1 PSD, and upgrade 2 rookies and get in 2 new rookies for 40/4/1.

But thats going to leave one of Byrne or Sheehan or potentially Wood on the rookie list for another 12 months.

Any chance we are trying to get someone like Shane Kersten to the PSD? He is on the list in this thread, assume he doesn't have a contract yet?

If the Cats don't delist him, he can go into it yeah? We certainly need some forward cover & it appears we have list spots available for it now.

I'm rather confused with our list situation ATM & what we are up to. 15 retirees/delistings is a helluva lot.

Nick Holman was one of the strangest moves I've seen. He must be getting placed on the rookie list as a developing player. I think Sos has a few more surprises in store for us. That's the only thing I cling to on this one.

I don't think it's that surprising regarding Holman. Sos must have put a marker on his ceiling and realised he would not be part of our best 22. Too long have we kept onto fringe players for longer than most other clubs would
