PSD/Rookie Draft

Parsons is about as outside as they come.
Before I realised that we were chasing talls this draft, I had big wraps on Parsons as someone that we should look at. I'm actually surprised that he didnt go in the draft this year. Clean outside runner with good skills.

There are a few diamonds there.

Given our list balance, would like a KPD with our first pick. There are a couple of interesting ones.

Surman
Glass-McCasker
Firns

Would prefer Surman
Sounds good to me; then we could have a legion of talls all born late in the year, within weeks of each other - helps with the longevity of our list. ;)

Logical Sin City, but who is there? Reuben William?
Any draft-worthy academy kids are odds on to be taken by their respective clubs. Expect Chol and William to go to Brisbane, and Tizani to head to GWS.

Byrne's Cat B status not 100% confirmed for 2016
Nothing in the CBA about it, and Blicavs was elevated after two years of regular senior footy for Geelong. Not sure where you're getting that info.

Looking forward to Friday morning to see how we finalize our playing list for 2016. As a supporter it is great that there is now just a few days between drafts, and I would think it is a change welcomed by those who missed out on selection last night.

Our final selection last night was very interesting - requesting a time extension, only to ultimately pass on the pick. Clearly we had at least one player in mind and were debating whether to take him during the national draft or wait for the rookie draft and risk missing out on him completely.

We'll likely never know who that player was but there is certainly chance he has made it through to the rookie draft.

We've brought in plenty of taller players via the player exchange period thus far so it will be very interesting to see the type of player we target through the rookie draft. Given our movements thus far, my guess is we'll be looking predominantly for players who can add to our midfield rotations.

I agree, we would be likely to do that. I would still prefer to add a KPD with the first pick; Surman or a Firn, then look for some midfield smokies, such as Matt DeBruin. At 187CM he is lightening quick and could develop. Also next year is a very strong draft for quality midfielders.

Slow, crap endurance and not amazing by foot. Not really a mystery.
Can't comment on the endurance, but I must have been watching a different player to you during the championships. Is impressive, certainly not slow and I did not see any glaring disposal flaws, although he was not adventurous with his targets (which is a good thing for a backman)

He's very outside. Haven't seen much of him this year, but he was this way inclined last year.

We need a genuine small forward on the list - Hisham Kerbitieh gives us that. # 1 Pick in the Rookie draft then re-draft Holman and be done with it.

Not sure about Matty Wright but I'll back the recruiting team here. If he does get picked up by us, that could be our small fwd starter... hence changing the above :drunk:

Anybody know the whereabouts of giles has he moved back to SA is he still an option for rookie draft if in fact he is fit how's the foot holding out ? would love to see him get an opportunity as a rookie ??

Kerbitieh and Holman sounds good to me! Holman showed a bit late last year (had a bit of toe and surprised me) so I'd be disappointed if we didn't rookie him. Anyone know what Giles situation is?

No doubt we watched the same player and just thought differently to their ability. We all rate players differently and that is part of the fun, it is not until development and the ability to play AFL football that we get proven semi right or wrong.

I just heard some people saying he was a top 30 pick and I disagreed with them. In saying that, I thought a few players drifted in this draft that should have been picked higher.
There are not a heap of players who I thought were a sure thing to get drafted that are floating in the rookie draft.
Gach would almost be the biggest shock and at the same time I would prefer my developing ruck option on the rookie list as well.
