PSD/Rookie Draft

His disposal is horrendous, but he's tall and an athletic rebounding type.

He's Steven Gaetner MKII but hopefully with a bigger heart and more desire.
If that's the case ,think I would prefer a Parson's or a O'Kearney

We could use a real stopper, full back that can stop the gorillas keep them goalless but doesn't have to accumulate more than 4 disposals per game.

I don't understand why we would pass on the preseason draft? We could have had the first pick in the preseason (the only pick) than the first pick in the rookie draft and got the best 2 player available and had a list of 40/4/2 instead of 39/5/2. Does anyone know why?
Can only presume that we can get what we need cheaper via the rookie draft.

Salary cap?

(And I'm not sure but do PSD players get 2 year contracts? I thought it was only 1)

Also enables us to have a look at all the rookies and how the main listed guys are travelling and then choose a nominated rookie, as opposed to locking in someone now. And/or maybe we want one of our existing rookies to be nominated from the start of the season

I think it would be more with the senior player list amount then cap, we would be way under the cap right now, prob had to front load some contracts

Rookie picks tomorrow... Kerbatiah, Glass-McCasker and Holman.
only 2 picks now, with Wright taking up a spot. if we redraft Holman, that's just one live pick. :(

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say despite it being a 'shallow' draft, we've shot ourselves in the foot by recycling too many mature players. Gorringe, Kerridge, Plowman, Sumner, Phillips, Lamb, Wright - that's a lot and I doubt half will be there in 2 years time.

The club has said that we have now taken 12 players (Kerridge, Plowman, Sumner, Phillips, Lamb, Gorringe, Wright, Weitering, McKay, Curnow, Cuningham, Silvagni)... we delisted and had retired 15 players... this leaves 3 spots to fill.

So we have taken Matty Wright as a DFA rather than adding via the rookie list.
We therefore (barring LTI's) condemn one of the Ciarans to the Northern Blues for half of the season.

Wright a handy player who may just excel at a new club under the tutelage of Bolton and his faculty.
I love that is reported/rumoured as a one year contract, continuing the "sink or swim" for some of our
recruits.

I think we can assume we want a popular player at #1 in the Rookie Draft, who will not be there at #19.
Really hoping it is Glass-McCasker who impressed me during the championships. Looking forward to the
list being finalised.

Please take Jesse Glass-McCasker at #1 in the PSD or Rookie Draft tomorrow.

I know nothing of this lad so I did a quick search and found this :

But Schache, considered a near certainty to follow in his late father Laurence Schache’s footsteps and join Brisbane, was held to just one goal.

He was worn like a glove by 198cm Glass-McCasker, who showed off his strong defensive skills, aerial ability and developing rebounding game.

“I didn’t play on him in the first game because I was injured,” Glass-McCasker said.

“I was spewing that I missed it, but he kicked eight against us in that game in Perth.

“I went up to the coach (Andrew Lockyer) and said I wanted to have a crack at him to see where I was at. I played on him down in Geelong and kept him to 1.1. My aim was to keep him to three goals, so I was stoked.

“It was probably one of the best games I’ve played.”

At 198cm with some serious leap and agility, there's a lot to like about the boy, just have to trust the recruiting panel on this one.

Aren't Category B rookie recruitment outside the normal rookie draft system?
you're telling the story here. :) I'm questioning your figure of 15, unless you substitute Korcheck for Russell.

We started with 38, delisted/retired/traded 11 and delisted Fields, Johnson and Walsh from our rookie list.

Adding 12 means we have 1 fewer rookie picks to play with.

Had to take off my shoes and socks to count the I's.

You know the drill by now..........and am counting you in this one TheSheik.

Thanks! Yeah both Crocker and Glass were remaining on our 'list' and we should have taken one after taking Silvagni. Why? I don't know, haven't found out yet but i'd assume it had something to do with list numbers. Since Crocker got taken by the Pies i think it was, we would be looking at Glass in the rookie draft as well as Holman.

Now that he has gone to the Pies, he is a Crocker sh*t...
