PSD/Rookie Draft

What ever happened to Tyler Keitel?
Supposed first round last year but went missing.
I am aware that not very agile but mentioned as a leader.

Ohh... just remembered the DFA's... if we go to the PSD for someone, we could also go to the DFA market for a KPF.

Mason Shaw, because he has been delisted, can go as a delisted free agent now. There are the rumours that the wet toasters are thinking of grabbing him... so we might have to move quickly if we wanted him.

I was also shocked he didn't at least get a rookie spot last year. Has some talent, and I would have liked to have seen what being in the AFL system would have done to him.

Didnt you read my calculations in full?

We might have to promote Wood and Sheehan, but looking at our picks, after the picks we have for Jack, we only have 1 more pick. So its pretty impossible to promote two people with 1 pick.

And if we only get Jack with pick 59, there is 60 and some stupidly late pick.

Wood - recruited by Carlton as a rookie in the 2013 draft. He has been on the list for 2 years and is eligible for another year on the rookie list (still thanks to the compromised drafts).
Sheehan - We had to put him in as a Cat A rookie when we signed him to a 2 year rookie contract in 2013 because of Byrne. He is out of contract this year.
Byrne - A category B rookie (Irish International). After 2 years, he might have to move to the Category A rookie list.

I think that Wood was initially put on a 1 year contract, that got extended by another 2 years, and the two Irish boys were put on 2 year rookie contracts.

We might have to move Byrne to the cat A list but I think that he can stay on the B list for another 12 months, but both Wood and Sheehan can stay on the A rookie list for another 12 months before we have to move them.

Cat B rookies are not considered part of the standard rookie list and don't count towards the 44 players allowed on a list.

Now... to the Armfield issue. That 39 players figure I gave includes both Holman and Armfield in the numbers. If we delist Warnock, that number drops down to 38 players. Once again, we have senior player slots. We could in theory promote both Wood and Sheehan to the senior list after the draft to give us our 40/4 split without having to delist anyone else... but we don't have the picks in the ND to promote both of them.

But the way things stand, we have 2 senior slots available and Armfield and Holman can both retain their slots. If we had gotten Tomlinson, then we would have to either delist one of Armfield or Holman... but we didnt so the point is now moot. However, if we wanted to go 38/6/n and take a PSD player, then one of them will get very nervous.
Well explained mate, awesome

Anyone know anything about Aidan Tropiano, worth a look?

There was a bit of talk a week or two back that we may have had some interest in Brad McKenzie from North. Not sure if he is out of contract but if so and likely to be delisted I would have a look at him.

Also what are peoples thoughts on Arryn Siposs? Looked a decent type 2-3 years ago but has stagnated since.

I'll probably get shot down for this, but I'd like us to pick up Saints cast off Spencer White.

He didn't come on at St Kilda, but with his athletic ability and size - you could see why they all made Buddy comparisons as a KPF.

He did some nice things in his limited time at AFL level (see his highlights vs Richmond).

He lost interest at St Kilda but I'd back Bolton to try and get the best out of him development wise.

Wow ... he is quick for a big guy.

I think Andrew Moore. Has a bit of experience and a hardened body.

We can't be throwing the kids in and turning into the next Melbourne. We do this properly, protect the kids who aren't ready. This guy will take the hits.

Jed Adcock is another - if he is keen to play a leadership role as well as potential coaching role - why say no?

Other than that, might need a ready made forward - Brown ticks those boxes.

Port Adelaide kept Butcher over Shaw. That should tell you all that needs to be said.
I agree with the bolded. We should be able to pick him up as a D/FA. Looked good as a small forward against the Bulldogs in his last game.

I think I remember reading pre-draft that Spencer White had loads of talent, but struggled badly with asthma. I imagine it would be tough to reach AFL-level fitness with severe asthma. Could have impeded his progress with the Saints?

Was playing in the VFL seconds this year anyway, would be a pretty risky prospect.

Maybe clubs are a bit gun shy at his gen y me me me attitude?
He created a big sh.. storm by demanding to be traded from East Perth (WCE affiliate club) to West Perth (neutral club).
East Perth and West Perth are like Carlton and Collingwood so I have NFI how he went this year and I don't give a rat's! LOL

The 2015 stats are pretty unimpressive.
Averaging less than 13 disposals a game.
6 goals 8 from 14 games. That's only 1 scoring shot per game and chances are it will be a point anyway.
Also still a bit light for an AFL forward at 194cms/91kgs.
Still only 19, 20 next year but a big pass from me.

Canberra Times has an article on Tom Fields. Looking at taking his talent to American Football as a punter after being delisted by Carlton.
I read somewhere that he had been considering taking himself to the states to try out as a punter. I wouldnt fault him in the slightest if he did that now.

Work rate isn't good enough.

Moved from East Perth due to the alignment with WCE could pose and West Perth's interest.
I'm pretty sure he was playing back at the end of the season, so the figures may not reflect well for a forward.

Spencer White's pace for a big man is seriously good.

Pick 25 in the 2012 draft.
I'd Rookie him

Didn't he struggle in the Development league this year? Whatever his issues were, it's a hell of a gamble to pick him up. Needs to go away, play footy away from the spotlight and work his way back.
