Did anyone watch this game last night? 6 minutes of stoppage time in the first half alone! Never seen that many.

Van der Vaart got sent off for kicking just before half-time. I then went to be and 4 goals were scored! Ended 2-2.

Tommy Smyth was certainly enjoying it.

There was an NSL match recently with 11 minutes of stoppage time. There was also the time in Ecuador when about 5 minutes of stoppage time signalled in the second half and Byron Moreno kept the game going so there was 11 minutes of stoppage time. In that particular game it was 3-2 after the 5 minutes and the other team then scored 2 goals before time was blown.

There was 7 minutes of extra time in the Manchester United vs Sheffield Wednesday game back in '93. Steve Bruce got a late winner which helped turn a 1-0 deficit to a 2-1 win, and Brian Kidd invaded the pitch in celebration when the 2nd goal went in. The Championship was ours from that point on.

Interestingly, Fergie said after the game that there should have been a further couple of minutes of extra time.

maybe someone can confirm this. i seem to recall this from italy v england, world cup '90.

first half OT went 15+8 minutes.

second half OT went 14:57 minutes, ref blew the whistle just as waddle had a massive left foot flay. it hit the left post and probably wouldn't have counted as the ref had called time, and they hadn't reached 15 minutes.

Piacenza vs Salernitana in the final Serie A round of 1998/99. This was a relegation decider and Salernitana had to win in order to escape relegation. It was a tense encounter, and it all went off in the second half as the evergreen Pietro Vierchowod put Piacenza in front. 11 minutes later, the visitors get a penalty which Salvatore Fresi duly converts.

What happened afterwards was that the referee added around 6-7 minutes of injury time, in which you'd think Salernitana would have taken advantage of. They failed to score and went down fighting, literally. A brawl had broken out and if that wasn't bad enough, some yobs set fire to the train on the way back to the south which caused four deaths.
