Anyone ever been to one?
What were your experiences? Any stories worth sharing?

I've had some seriously freaky nightmares recently and I'm curious to hear how a psychic would interpret it. I'm a skeptic and a firm believer that these people are only good for entertainment value.

Used to be a cynic until I went and saw one. This woman had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up within five minutes. She knew so many things, especially their particular nuances and people's perspectives that only I knew, that I sort of had no choice about what to believe from that point onwards.

What makes it weirder is that what she predicted was 'cross-referenced', if you will, by another one my mother saw four years earlier. How is it that they both had exactly the same pieces of info to give? Even more interesting is that things she has predicted have come true since, and some of these things were scarily precise, too.

Go.

You know these people play off cues and body language, and are able to give something just general enough that it could apply to whoever they're talking to? It's entirely possible to lead them on and get them to say exactly what you want them to say by providing the right cues.

And for every person that gets freaked out, there are probably ten times as many who thought it meant nothing.

Before Houdini passed away he gave his wife a code so that when she went to see a psychic she would know if it was really him or not, she went to see a whole lot of psychics but none of them knew the code. So yes I think they're full of crap. I think more than anything they are a form of grief counselling for those who have just lost love ones and still haven't moved on yet.

You wouldn't rule out somebody being able to do it as there is so much we don't know about the universe. I have a client who 'reads' me whenever she comes to see me. She told me that I would have serious health problems, possibly diabetes. She was right but was it the fact that I am fat b@stard gave it away? I don' think she is in any way psychic but if the person was legitimate would I believe them anyway? Probably not. Entertainment value mostly.

I want to go to one just to see what they say. The idea is to give nothing and see what they come up with.

I'm a physic. The Tasmanian Psychic Association uses the columns of 'The Mercury' to advertise the date and venue of its state conference every year.

Why?

I had to laugh at the article in yesterday's paper about how a psychic connected Elvis with his daughter.

Would make for a great episode of Crossing Over...

"I'm sensing ......uhh....there's a fat Southern man gyrating his pelvis at me.....what's that? ....uh huh....yep.....what? You want me to make you a peanut butter and banana sandwich? Oh my......it's the King of Rock n' Roll, Elvis......does anyone here have any sort of connection with Elvis at all?:

*99% of deluded, fat American audience raise hand*

"I see....I'm picking up a message....he's telling me you're caught in some sort of trap, that you can't walk out.....and that he loves you too much. He also called you baby, does that ring any bells? Now, do you have any reason to suspect why Elvis may have a suspicious mind toward you?"

I never used to. One of my friends though went to see a psychic some years ago, and she made a few VERY far out predictions, and all of them came true. None of them seemed remotely probably at the time. So who knows.

I'm sure there's a lot of bullshit in the industry, though, of course lol

c'mon guys, quit with the generalisations.

Don't say - she said something would happen - and it came true.

Back it up with what they said - and exactly what happened. :D

lol, well I'd rather not post any specifics, as it's not my place to post that kind of thing on a public forum. But one of the things this particular psychic predicted was the death of one of my friend's family members. The death was occupationally specific (the psychic had no prior knowledge of this person's occupation), and the details sounded extremely unlikely. But it happened just like she said a few months later.

She sifted through your garbage and got some facts before you went to see her... It's all a crock, a lucritive crock but none the less a crock, fate is what we make it to be! Each person is in charge of their own destiny, it's all about choices...

I went to one. It was scary how well she predicted things.

"You will pay through the teeth for a session of mindless crapping on"
"I will give you generalised statements that are true for everyone"
"Luke, I am your Father"
