POWER TO SUIT UP IN ALTERNATE GUERNSEY WHILST JOINING M&M’S GLOBAL COLOUR VOTE
The Power players will be running out in ‘new’ guernsey tomorrow night when they take on Collingwood at Football Park in tomorrow night’s ‘blockbuster game’, and in doing so the club will weigh in on the M&M Global Colour Vote.
The decision not to wear our traditional home guernsey was born out of a discussion in the football department, where it was agreed that the Port Adelaide and Collingwood guernseys were far too similar and that it would make good sense to wear a very different guernsey for the game. Accordingly, it was agreed the club should wear its teal training guernsey against Collingwood.
That decision provided a fantastic opportunity for the club to join forces with Mars Confectionary and clearly state our preference in the M&M Global Colour Vote, where people right around the world are voting on which colour M&M (aqua, purple or pink) they would most like to be added to the current M&M colours.
By wearing an alternate guernsey tomorrow night, the Port Adelaide Football Club has thrown its support well and truly behind aqua.
Power chief executive Brian Cunningham said the decision to wear an alternate guernsey was one that made great football sense and one that proved to have a commercial bonus as well.
“The clash of guernseys is a real issue in the AFL, and by wearing our training guernsey we think it solves that problem in tomorrow night’s game, ” said Cunningham.
“We are also really pleased that the change of guernsey for tomorrow night’s game has provided us with an opportunity to welcome Mars Confectionary on board as a sponsor of our club,” he said. “We urge all of our supporters to register their preference for aqua in M&M’s Global Colour Vote.”

The need for alternate guernsey has been a big talking point amongst coaches, players, supporters and also media commentators, who on occasions have struggled to distinguish between teams.
The Power players have worn the training guernsey regularly over the last few years including in trial games, and the socks which we will wear tomorrow night had been our ‘alternate’ socks up until this year.
For a look at just what the Power players will be wearing tomorrow night, visit our website www.PortAdelaideFC.com.au where there is a photo of Brent Guerra at training last year.
Australians can vote for the new aqua colour M&M by logging onto www.m-ms.com.au or by calling 1900 945 622. The winning colour will join the six current “M&M’s” colours red, yellow, green, brown, orange and blue for a limited time beginning in August. The Global Colour Vote closes on May 31.
