It might be getting refurbished? If your looking for a watering hole before/after the match there are heaps of pubs within walking distance in the city. Town is only a 10 min walk from SS.
You could also go to the elephant and castle. That is like 5 from SS.

The Clarendon is absolutely NOT closed. It was for just a couple of weeks a little while back, changed owners or receivership or something but its definately open. Even had a bbq before the Freo game just last week.
