The sprays Jack gave may well be deserved but ask yourself this: How many times did you see/have you seen Lloyd or Dunstall or N.Riewoldt or Brown give their teammates a spray during a game?

These players may have been pissed when things didn't go their way on the ground but I can never recall any of them publically spray a teammate.

That is the point I'm trying to make about Jack, if he isn't pleased with what a teammate has done there are ways and means of getting the message across without looking like a spoilt brat. Have a word with them at the end of the quarter/half time or bring it up during the match review on Monday morning.

The message will get across much better when it is done calmly and I've got no doubt that his teammates will respect Jack more for doing it this way rather than in public during a game.

Jack Riewoldt was given worst on ground against Collingwood, by Triple M, for his attitude though... and some other things.

By Garry Lyon and Fanny Drawley :o

we can't just jump into this and assume he hasn't already spoken to them nicely about it already and they continue to do stupid things. martin took the constructive criticism well and is playing the ball much better into the 50 now

Amen. My issue wasnt about the what he did it was about how. It will get sorted fairly quickly I'm sure.

I agree with RT.
If he keeps it up, Jack will start being remembered for the wrong things. RIcho did 10 awesome things a game, but in end the end his one bad thing was focussed on.
It will be the same with Jack unless he gets it right.

Agreed.

the media are picking out situations and saying he needs to be more positive, but he has every reason to go off because who better to hear from then one of your team mates that your doing something wrong.

Like I said, I've got no problem with Jack giving a teamate a spray when its deserved, but there are better times to do it than when that bloke has just busted a gut to try and get the ball to Jack but makes the wrong choice.

Disagree RT , ever since Harwick has taken over the mantra has been new game plan and sticking to it. Is it part of the game plan for Martin to kick 40 m worm burner passes into full forward when the full forward is being double teamed and his main strength is in the air.

Is it the game plan for silly hogs that are not showing any form at all to be trying to snap goals 50m out from the side line instead of doing the team thing and pushing the ball high up into the square for our full forward who is once again brilliantbin the air and on ground level a chance to lock it in our forward line.

Jack is the forward line leader now and it is his responsibility to keep these numb nuts from getting ahead of their capabilities. They'll be better footballers and we'll be a better team if Jack keeps telling them like it is.

fair arguement RT although I don't think the win/loss ratio for the players you named would be the same as Jacks at the same age .
All in all it's a fair beat up , if jack gives someone a spray and they are upset by it , I'm sure they'll let him know .
Let him be I say, his unique passion is what makes him exciting !!
Stars don't need to be over coached !!

Morton did the wrong thing and those solo glory efforts are why he's spent most of 2010 in the VFL right?

Other than that (and old habits DO die hard) Morton had a great game as far as i'm concerned.

And with the Martin kick into the forward line, jack still managed to get his hands to the ball, but fumbled it, and it rolled over the boundary. While Jack was right in telling martin to kick it in the air, i dont think jack should have been as aggressive to martin as he was. It was jack who dropped the mark, not martin. Jack needs to work on a leading role as well, because the martin pass for a leading forward was like christmas come early.

Uh, it was spoiled first by an opposition player. Jack had no chance with that one, because there were two players sitting in front of him.

Are you serious? Bring it up in the match review monday morning!? When someone doesnt adhere to the team rules DH sends the runner out to have a word in their ear should he wait until monday as it doesnt look that great? Jack has had reasons for his sprays and he was spot on. If Morton gets roasted by Jack for not doing the team thing do you think 2 minutes later when the same situation crops up that wont affect his decision. So long as someone is not doing the team thing Jack has every right to give them a mouthful I ahve no problems with it whatsoever

RT.

For the first time in my life, I agree with you.

Nothing is gained from dressing down a player during the quarter, it suggests a team is not playing for each other and as a competitive person myself, when I see that I think we have the advantage.

Save it for the dressing room, save it for the breaks at the quarters.

Poor body language is never a good trait.

How is telling someone what to do poor body language? Its called leadership.

Mate he looks like he's going to cry when the ball isnt delivered to him on a platter.

You can stick your hand up and point to where they should have gone, but the boy looks like he's going to blow a fuse when it doesnt go his way.

Dare I say it, Richo like.

Which games/moments are you talking about? Ive seen every game and havent witnessed any "Richo" like behaviour. The two moments in question were when martin jammed it in 2 metres off the ground to the best contested mark in the AFL, and when Morton took a shot from a difficult angle when Jack had space.
Richos attitude frustrated me when he blew a fuse when his lead wasnt honoured to the best of my knowledge Jack this season has done nothing of the sort. So if you are going to come onto the board and make claims please show me the support/evidence for the claim.

The Martin pass was the worst type of pass for Jack. Jacks talent is not in beating his opponent off the mark its beating him in the air. The martin kick was an absolute shocker

Can remember against the Pies he went off his rocker twice when his lead wasnt honoured, once by King, the other from a rushed kick from Martin.

Add to that what I saw against Freo and I dont think it's isolated.

Thats what should happen, Jack spraying the bloke achieves nothing apart from making Jack look like a sook. So let DH send the runner out, if not when the runner is nearby send a message back to the bench or if need be wait until quarter time when the players are in a group and no-one can really tell whats going on and have a word to them then.

Then come the match review with the team, you can bring it up again and help improve the players rather than just belittle them because you didn't get the ball kicked to you when you thought you should have.

There was more than one occasion in the game Martin was kicking far too flat before Jack had a loud word to him as they were coming together at half time(?).

who the **** cares what it looks like, nobody here even knows what jack is saying. they just go by his facial expression and the fact he is yelling and assume he is having a go at the player

the players don't cry and get upset by copping a spray, it's called constructive criticism and if you can't learn from constructive criticism in a sport while in the thick of the action, then you will never learn
