Pulling Hair

What a load of tripe! You guys are unreal. This is a perfect example of how the game and the way it's being policed is becoming a farce.

No it should not be a suspension. Did the two victioms of these incidents sustain any injuries? (no) Did it really hurt them? (doubt it)

If the players in questionfeel violated by having their hair tuggged a little, tie it up into a little bun, or better still chop it off. Football is a contact sport, scratches, tugs, grazes, bumps, bruises, etc are all apart of the game. Stop being so soft! And before anyone jumps to the conclusion that I'm a Hawk fan sticking up for Mitchell, I remember a number of years ago when the shoe was on the other foot. When Johnny Platten had his hair pulled (a lot harder that the two incidents from the weekend) by a carlton player. I didn't think it was a big deal at the time and didn't rant and rave, thought it was a little humorous actually.

FWIW I think the Mitchell incident was a spur of the moment, rash (a bit silly too) reaction. He was frustrated and engaged in a push and shove, and reached for the hair after losing his balance. But who cares... Mountain out of a molehill at the end of the day!

Is that what you call it?:D He was twisting and turning trying to put Mitch down while Mitchell just stood his ground and laughed. Was p*ss funny on TV.
Hair pulling is not on, but neither is squirrel gripping, pinching etc and they all happen. The umpires have pretty much encouraged it by always paying free's to the retaliator.
Hmm, were we watching the same game? Yes, there was a part where Mitchell was laughing and just standing there, but I'm pretty sure Nason surprised him by almost yanking him to the floor after that. :D

You would have such views supporting a team full of them though.

Don't have a problem with shit-stirrers. Theres shit-stirring and then theres... pinching and pulling hair

Platten had his hair pulled regularly.
Bateman had his hair pulled regularly.

Your assistant coach is a blood smearer.

Collingwood had the original pincher, FFS, he was nicknamed Mr pinchy pinchy.

It's silly, but ffs, it's no big deal, it's just posters need something to get all worked up about.

Let's see, how does it work, someone from my team didn't <insert act> this week, so I will get all high and mighty about it.

There really are some pathetic bitches on BF.

We've had our fair share of sissy acts over the years (remember that photo of all the Tiges left footers on the back of the rubbish paper looking like they were in a ****ing chorus line, Daffy and Campbells ****y hairstyles, Aaron Fiora), but this is real sissy.

The embarassment for a ****y act like that should nearly be enough though.

I can tell by this comment that you are a weak, little man who desperatelty wants to be seen as a tough guy.

What a failure of a person you are.

Not at all, I'm not weak or little, nor have I ever hit anybody, let alone to try and prove how tough I am. Was never a niggler on the footy field either.

Nice post though; clearly I'm the one who wants to be seen as a tough guy.

If you walk onto the oval with a haircut like that, which draws attention to yourself and could be seen as a bit w***erish, then you're going to get niggled about it, and no doubt have it messed with. No different to a guy like Reimers wearing the flash-iest boots in the comp when he'd hardly played any games or made an impact.

George Smith in the Wallabies; always used to get his dreadlocks pulled by opposition players in the rucks and scrums - it's part of life.

It's a bit soft to be doing it, but is no different to standing on someone's toes or elbowing them in the ribs to try and niggle them and agitate them.

It's very much a generational thing, anyone in Gen X and older knows that when you rock up to a footy field with a new team, you have to earn the respect of others before you parade around in white boots or long "look at me" hair.

That, or you were a Dermott Brereton type who said, "I know what's coming my way, and I'll put up with it, I'm that good". But you did get hit a lot.

These days, I'm not sure they even make black boots anymore, and every bloke seems to have a do like a rock star.

I know its not a popular concept, especially with Gen Y folks, but if you put yourself out there, like a Kyle Reimers with his yellow boots immediately, or (as much as you don't like it) Nasons or Bateman in the old days, then expect attention, and don't expect it to be good.

Exactly.

I'm not really particularly proud of Mitchell for pulling hair, but we can all see the reaction it invokes, and it takes a second of madness in an important part of the game, for Nasons to throw a punch before he's thought about it...and it'd be a free kick to Mitchell. Sam would be well aware that a Nason's punch is not going to hurt, in the same way you wouldn't nipple cripple Barry Hall. Although the Hawks (including Mitchell) have been known to point out the chin to Hall during some of his brain fades...so they don't mind aggitating.

Couldn't agree with you MORE!!!!:thumbsu: Remember the day when only the toughest of tough guys would rock up with long hair and tatts and if you looked at them wrong (let alone pulled their hair) you would end up with a fist full of knuckle.

Now days you have noobs like Dane Beams running around with full sleeve tattoos, Riemers with his orange boots and Nason with girly dreadlocks. What on earth are they thinking??:rolleyes: I suppose they are from the "nanna said i can do anything" generation, the same ones that start crying when Kyle Sandilands tells them that they really CAN'T sing!!!!

Harsh, but fair.

So what people are saying here is that it's not girlish to pull someone's hair as long as the person they're doing it to has a gay haircut?

Tough man Jonathon Brown is a hair puller

shame, shame, shame.:(

Gave Harry's hair a girly pull late in second quarter while involved in a scuffle.

Re: Tough man Jonathon Brown is a hair puller

Well O'Brien wouldn't let go, O'Brien's lucky hair pullling is the only thing that happened to him after he elbowed brown in the face during the tussle (I heard Walls say that, I wasn't watching the screen during the replay).

Re: Tough man Jonathon Brown is a hair puller

I was surprised, thought Brown was better than guys like Ballaywhateverhisnameis.

Re: Tough man Jonathon Brown is a hair puller

The red carpet has been laid out for the pies tonight. They are loved by the umps.

Re: Tough man Jonathon Brown is a hair puller

Could be time Harry either cuts his hair, or stops doing whatever it is that makes everyone pull it - or maybe he likes it being pulled? Collingwood supporters should stop whinging about it either way.

That would be the scuffle where Harry had his elbow in Brown's face.:thumbsu:

Too high free kick to Brown????????

Pretty sure the free kick wasn't paid to Brown and the Umpire (no.10) was standing right there.

Got his hair pulled did he? That's alright because he's seen a knifing.
