Saw in Dimma's presser he said it spurred the players (or something similiar) kicking to the Punt Road which got me thinking about the scoring differential in the games I've been to this season.

The Carlton game I know we outscored them first qtr, and were about even 3rd qtr, which were both to the PRE, 2nd and 4th qtr's were poor.

I couldnt make the Pies game.

Against the Dees we dominated the 1st qtr just not quite on the scoreboard, and then the 3rd was that massive 9 goal qtr.

Similiar story on Saturday with that huge first qtr to the PRE, only anomoly is the last qtr on Sat where we managed a few to the City end.

Thoughts....

Just a wierd coincidence.
Although right from when I was knee high, that end has always had a mystique to it.It's just our end.
Been lots of good stuff down there but the 95 semi third quarter takes some beating in recent history.

gee what a great day that was, there with my brother and Dad, we had some bomber ferals 2 rows back at half time having a go " lets go get our tickets to the next final now blah blah blah " , when chris Naish kicked that goal put us in front , Dad who is usually pretty quiet at the footy turned around to them and shouted "thought you were going to get your tickets" lol, classic moment.

We've missed days like that and I believe the whole competition has as well. I honestly believe there is a unique mystique to the Tiger Army on the Punt Road End with Richmond up and about and going well.

The Pies out in force when the "Collingwooooood" chant starts is a great athmosphere but even that pales beside the Punt Road end when the tigers are purring or with their backs to the wall and the Yellow and black Army is going mental. There is nothing in Australian sport quite like it.

Richmond at the MCG going well or battling down to the wire makes for the best athmosphere in the AFL. No argument. If its tight going to the wire tomorrow it'll become our home game in terms of noise and barracking.

Has by and large been the case for a very long time. Back in the days, if we won the toss, invariably we would make sure we would come home at the Punt Road end and by and large back then it was partey time.. ;)

My earliest memory of going to a Richmond game was my parents getting sick of my sister and I fighting one Saturday in 1976 and throwing us in the car and driving to the G down the road where Richmond were playing Hawthorn and we walked in at 3 quarter time.
I was absolutely gobsmacked by it like cogga says the tigers were coming home to the punt road end and it was a thumping finish with the noise initially scaring the crap out of me and then having my hair stand on end when jimmy Jess booted a huge behind or goal not sure after the siren for tiges to win by a point!
It was like a drug from then on and I have heaps of great memories growing up sitting down that end with us kicking down there in the last.
Sat down there at the 80 GF but strangely the memories aren't as strong as other days or even the preceding weeks finals at waverly. Weird.

And just so once again we wouldn't agree I got taken in by Richmond that day and my sister has been staunch Hawthorn ever since lol.

Haha amazing how distorted your memory is from when you're little!
Curiosity got the better of me and I looked it up and it was round 2 1977.

To this day I would swear jimmy Jess kicked a huge kick after the bell lol.
His kicks used to seem to go 100 metres when I was a kid.
But to my delight I googled round 2 1977 and there is about 6 mins of footage on YouTube.
Haha he kicks a goal from about 25m to put us 2 points up with not long left and there is a rushed behind on the siren.
At least I was right it was Punt rd End and the noise and atmosphere just how I recall.

This could only be proved or disproved by statistical analysis of goals scored for and against at each end.
I wonder if that analysis has ever been done even over the course of just one season?
