So do i. But i cant remember the last time so much unanimous public opinion was wrong.
I understand the principle behind front loading a contract but let’s say Tom signed his next contract with us with us for 4 years and we paid him like this:
1st year: 400k
2nd year: 450k
3rd year: 500k
4th year: 550k
So the next 2 years he is overpaid for a 3rd & 4th year player but in his 5th & 6th year he is paid market value. Does front loading mean we pay under market value in year 3 & 4 of the contract because that’s where we create value in front loading? In general it does but not so for Tom.
Tom is different as we understand he is being offered huge money to go to GWS so front loading is really only a means of meeting what GWS as best we can.
i am certain he is GAWN and think that when it is announced things are going to get extremely messy.
I will be over the moon if i am wrong though! (but i very much doubt it)
at the end of the day its really dissapointing that is has been allowed to drag on as long as it has, i really wish he would have just put his cards on the table earlier be it melbourne or gws, its poor on his and his managements part that this has been allowed to become bigger than the melbourne footy club, jack watts is showing signs he could be the superstar we all thought, stefan has become one of the best second ruckmen in the comp, jordie mckenzie has become one of the most underrated players in the comp.. but there all insignificant to the scully circus... personally ive lost respect for him anyway, cuz my opinion is he could have done a hell of alot more earlier on to put this to bed ....
If you put every crap thing jtr has said in your sig, it'll be huge.He won't get carded, but it will be my sig if he is wrong... what a shit post.
you blokes now nothing is Scully worth more than Trengove and Watts, i want an answer big mouth?
if he signs for the rumored 700,000 a season nxt year with us do you think Sylvia will demand the same?In my opinion, Scully is a level above the Jack's, and I rate them very, very highly
In a few years time (probably not even that long) Scully is the bloke that will have the ability to drag the team over the line in a close game
He's a rare breed
if he signs for the rumored 700,000 a season nxt year with us do you think Sylvia will demand the same?
In my opinion he has done absolutely nothing wrong.. He's not the only person to sign at years end and with the CBA agreement it's well within his interest to wait untill it is sorted.. he's playing good footy and so are we so don't really see the problem..
The truth is Sylvia wont know what he's getting paid, no one will, it'll just be more rumour and speculation as we're seeing now
I'm not having a crack, just trying to see the other side of the fence
What makes you certain he's gone?
Just gut feel?
i think when tom starts arriving at games in his own private jet then sylvia might catch on

was told months ago from a mate of mine who knows someone VERY high up in the afl that it was a done deal.
like i said i hope it is incorrect or that he is just trying to stir me but this guy has come through with other big news over the years.
ill be over the moon if he decides to stay but i have lost a bit of respect for the kid for his stance of not trying to sort this out now rather than later. i know he has always stated that contract talks will be on hold until the end of season but you would think if he was intending on staying he would sort it out now so that this media circus would stop.
i know he recently mentioned that all the stories etc do not faze him but the reality is that it is definetely a detriment to the club and not something we need in this stage of our rebuilding phase. The focus should be on where we are going as a team and not the Tom Scully saga.
i know there is are a couple of posters who are an acquaintence to Tom and state that his mind is only on football and that he hasnt signed anything with GWS but do you honestly believe that if he has indeed signed he would tell them that? Most definetely not!
What about chip, is he worth double of him?Haha you might be right
If Sylvia averaged 26 possies a game in his 2nd season after missing a lot of preseason and the first 10 odd matches, he might be on $700k a year himself![]()
Lost respect for Tom, or his management?
He's a 19 year old kid, being guided through his 1st contract negotiation by his management
He's just doing what he's been advised is in his best interest to do, you can't blame him for that.
On your point of your mate though - it cannot be a done deal, whether he's signed an in principal agreement or not
Look at the Callan Ward situation, even an approach formally is potentially going to cause GWS an issue
