I don't think they were, they didn't even meet her at the school footy clinic, she just happened to be there with hundreds of other students.

She first met Gilbert at a Sydney nightclub after a Saints game there where she used fake ID to say she was 19, pretty sure she had finished school by then but even if she hadn't he had no reason to think she was underage when he met her in an over 18s nightclub.

The way the media reported on that whole scandal was a complete disgrace, so many lies and distortions printed as fact just to make it more scandalous.
