Cool. So let's not erase history, lest we are doomed to repeat it. Auschwitz remains standing for a very good reason.
Yep, that's why those people in Charlottesville were marching with Confederate Flags chanting "the Jews will not replace us", so that Americans don't forget how evil slavery and racism is.

Why do you have to cover for racists just because they're on your side politically? It's exactly what Trump was doing and it's awful.

There are only two possible answers.

You're a bit simple and think that you can cover for racists and no bad will come of it.
Or, you're a racist.

I'm not calling you racist, but you're certainly bending logic quite a bit all to protect some racists.

I'm not defending the neo nazis for one second, they are hateful scum. And they would hate me for just having a mixed race baby. I'm just asking the question of where do we draw the line in terms of pulling down statues, pretending that history isn't ugly, etc.

No, you're doing what Conservatives do, which is dress up the racists and extremists in their party as if they're something else. Like they've ever had a conversation about where the statue-pulling stops. When we all know 100% of people at those protests are outright racists and want to keep Confederate Statues because they want to keep bloodlines pure and are still upset the South lost.

Maybe you'll tell us the US Civil War was about States' Rights and the Nazis were really leftie socialists too cos it's in the name?

It's standard behaviour for conservatives trying to pass off a good chunk of the party as not racist because it's uncomfortable to be associated with them.

I often wonder if I do the same thing myself and excuse socialists and commies who I happen to agree with on some things (like increased taxes on the rich). But I don't think I'd ever try to excuse racism.

People wishing to disavow the Nazis by placing them on the other "side" (ie "they were leftie socialists") is a good thing. It means they want nothing to do with them. The alternative is wanting to be associated with them, which is awful.

It's denying history because it's inconvenient. That's almost the definition of conservatism. They're denying what's true because they don't want to admit their own faults.

But conservatism and Q'ism is probably better defined as the denial of a future because it's inconvenient.

Maybe it's the denial of history and future.

No, it's washing your hands of issues within your own political paradigm.

If you're uncomfortable that Neo-Nazis are marching with you at the political rally you've attended, or are standing with you in solidarity in support of your political views, or are frequenting the forums you read, you need to maybe take a closer look at your own values and ask yourself the hard questions.

I don't get how evangelicals can reconcile their love for Trump considering their supposed beliefs and Donnie's history, but they seem to manage it just fine.

Means to an end I guess.
Similar to how leftists can reconcile their supposed compassion with Biden’s open border policies that have led to children being used by cartels, smugglers and sexually assaulted?

Or believe all women unless Cuomo, Biden or Bill are accused?

Or Republicans being anti-abortion but pro death penalty and wide spread gun use?

Every side of politics is hypocritical. The Q just is nonsense.

But there's not been any evidence that anyone at that protest was actually talking about history and not just promoting racism. The 'protecting history' narrative seems like it's a smoke screen for a movement which is 100% racists.

It's a fig-leaf for conservatives to pretend that such a large portion of their fellow travellers aren't outright racist. The whole transcript from Trump is exactly that. Him trying to dress-up his racist supporters as something other than that.
Utter nonsense. The very large majority were protesting to retain history. The very large majority of the other side were also not there to fight/riot and were protesting racism

Both had valid points. That is what Trump was saying. It should have been a stop and listen to your neighbour moment and accept different valid views. But of course CNN etc saw an opportunity to smear Trump so...

Does that apply to Antifa and BLM protestors who disavowal the family unit and promote anarchy? Or is it only the right that is linked to their crazy fringe?

I guess I must be racist then cause I understand Trump’s point and why people were protesting.

I will let my half Chinese wife, my best mate who is black and my business partner that is Jewish know.

Read more on BLM
You mean this:

''We make our spaces family-friendly and enable parents to fully participate with their children. We dismantle the patriarchal practice that requires mothers to work “double shifts” so that they can mother in private even as they participate in public justice work.''

''We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another, especially our children, to the degree that mothers, parents, and children are comfortable.''

How is that disavowing family units? If you read it carefully, its extending them!

Except that the organiser of the rally Jason Kessler claims that the Government is waging genocide against white people and that the woman who was killed in the rally was a "disgusting fat communist. Communists have killed 94 million. Looks like it was payback time".

The keynote speaker was Richard Spencer who is pretty much just an out-and-out neo-nazi.

Where is there any evidence of a "very large majority were protesting to retain history"? There's no evidence of it, it's just something that more reasonable conservatives tell themselves to help them stay on the side of racists. There are some events about history and genuine debate over where figures of the past sit with respect to their behaviour, but stop pretending that Trump and his supporters were doing that when primarily that's not what the Trump movement has been about.

I've never said that there was a lot of peaceful protesters because I've no evidence of that. There are mountains of evidence of racism/white supremacy.

If you turned up to that rally it's probably that you're either racist, ready for a confrontation, or both.

Quite right. Yet more confirmation for FireKrakouer that many Q sticks are Trumpers.

That suits your narrative.

If you watch the video footage of the elderly people who were marching (combination of whites and blacks but mostly white), they were holding up signs about protecting monuments/history etc.

I watched it with my own eyes for 3 hours on TV. Just as I watched a lot of the BLM protestors who were peaceful and should not be linked with those that riot, destroy property and espouse the crazy stuff.

People are able to have differences of opinion to you and not be racists, Nazis etc

The problem with your theory is that there are also clear links between fascism and socialism. The farther left the more these are apparent, just as you point out the existence on the far right. To claim one over the other is disingenuous. Even the term “Nazi” refers to a “National Socialist” party. There are countless ties (centralized government, racism, state-sanctioned violence, and enforced cultural uniformity) that link fascists and even Nazis to the left.
