QAFL 2018

They came to noosa and gave us a touch up in the qualifying final and we had a pretty good side. Mind u surfers did the same the following week...☹️

From my understanding BA has put a few good assistants around him this year which is smart thinking. Makes him capable of narrowing his focus a little bit and no doubt coach better. Coaching in eRly 2000s would be different to coaching now, especially as a non playing coach. Im sure he has adapted! GC footy pretty strong atm, kids being drafted, the 3 of the 4 qafl clubs going well with labrador just having an off year, the neafl side going well, burleigh is competitive and their ladder position isnt a true indicator in my mind. Probably should be mond you with the number of ex southeners and population but all the same, good to see.

So, My Broady defeat The Vultures by 15 points in one tight struggle .
Morningside inflict Palmys first defeat of the season without 3 of there guns be it Kinch, Logan and Weare.
So the Panthers have now knocked off the top 3 sides in the past 4 weeks.
I mentioned on here some 5 weeks ago , that the Panthers are surging and looking dangerous.lol..

From what I've seen, Mt Gravatt and Surfers to make way for Morningside and the Magpies come finals time.

Surfers will make the finals , which would make a lot of teams nervous, as they could repeat what the Western Bulldogs achieved in 2016.

Haha - let's hope so.
2 weeks ago thought 8 wins would be enough - now it looks like 9 wins will be required.
Magpies need 4 wins out of 6 games
Surfers will need 2 wins
Mt G need probably 3 wins due to their percentage
Morningside need 3 wins and they should beat Grange, Lab and Hawks at least.

Based on the ladder they should all achieve that. Mt Gravatt cannot afford anymore injuries and need to get a few back.
Some good upsets over the last few weeks has made it interesting. Seems like some sides match up better against certain oppositions.

Yes it’s got very interesting. I reckon only PBC are locked in for minor premier and cats should make top 3 given % and games against bottom sides still to come.

But the matches between maggies siders demons and vultures will be very interesting to follow as throw a blanket over them all and one will be top 3 and 1 will miss out completely and the other 2 will go hammer and thongs in the elimination final. % could be telling.

And Lab will pop up and upset someone at some stage too.

With such a even competition within this group , a lot will depend on injuries, players being elevated to NEAFL level, players coming back fronm NEAFL level and acadamey players coming in after there season comittments

My final 6 come year end after home and away games .
Palm Beach
Broadbeach
Morningside
Mt Gravatt
Magpies
Surfers

My predicted ladder

PBC
Broadbeach
Sherwood
Morningside
Surfers
Mt Gravatt
Labrador
Grange
Sandgate

With only % splitting 3rd to 6th.

Broadbeach have signed ex junior Luke McGuane! Great get to assist Matt Fowler for the rest of the year. Surely boosts the cats flag hopes

Mcguane was a broady junior ,,,thus the connection ..... he registered as a player with broady early this year at the chance he may come and play for us. He has not played footy this year , so who knows how his chronic leg injuries are ... As far as I know , this is banter at the moment with nothing concrete in place as we speak .

What's the thoughts on changes if implemented at AFL Level for next year.

Seems like a ground swell of support to have some changes to open game up.

Do you think they will be adopted in QAFL if they get through in October this year as being currently muted?

I read on th AFL website today that any changes wouldn’t be implemented until 2021.

The should be careful with too much tinkering, regardless of how many goals are kicked it’s such an even competition with spots for top 4 and 8 still up for grabs and more than likely will be going into round 23.

Can’t see it happening in Qafl level anytime soon

They want more goals which means more adds and the more adds equal more money, it’s all about the $$$, not about improving the game.
Commercialisation is ruining the game.
