I think he would 100% be on the money considering he knows the ppl involved in a counter offer.
not unlike eagle at grange where ppl involved in the counter offer that loses the player quite happy to state what’s on offer.
Do you know what he’s on?

don't think Eagle had any other offers in Brisbane did he?

Certainly none of the QAFL clubs were interested other than Grange

an offer from another club that missed out o isn’t always an indication that player x accepted a higher offer.

Players are always sacrificing match payments for other factors such as playing with mates, opportunity to win premiership, work/career opportunities, convenience of location, facilities and club atmosphere etc.

particularly in qld local footy when it’s not huge money being thrown around.

it’s of course more comfortable to say “that other club must be paying more than us”when a player goes to a rival rather than looking inward

morningside for example for decades have attracted gun footballers on the smell of an oily rag

that’s all true 2010 but when actual numbers were being bandied bn clubs then in this case it was a case of cash over career

Had significant offer from Hobart, plus an offer from up Gladstone way that was more to do with work than footy.

Was never going to Hobart either, just used it as leverage.

Why no interest from other QAFL clubs? Key position players with AFL experience aren't exactly falling from trees.

Fair to say the due diligence wouldn't pass muster.

Big call using Tasmania as leverage. If someone was using Tassie as leverage most clubs will say “good luck have fun” you’ll be back in the warmth by June.

My understanding and it’s very limited and third hand that the offer to work in Gladstone was very lucrative. Tassie offer was there but not the preference. Always wanted to stay in the south East. Wasn’t just looking at QAFL either.

End of the day who cares Grange got their man. Add to that Zach Westerberg who is a very good player and it looks as though he is pulling a few down from Darwin with him. Grange will be more then competitive. Which is about time. How anyone can begrudge the moves they’re making proves just how shallow some are.

Zach Westerberg a very good get, experienced, good size and buys in. Shame his brother isn't the same.

What did Grange miss that others didn't?

Try Hobart.

Eagles was never going to Gladstone.
He spent a fair bit of time negotiating. And it was a better package turned down for a few more $$ at Grange. So be it.
Like someone just said the most recent signing may be the biggest get anyway in Bowles.

Eagles was never going to Gladstone.

Maybe not but it wouldn't be a shock given the new coach at Gladstone (Kenny) and the new recruits they've also nabbed from interstate (and a bit of stability there for the first time in years). Anyway I digress as none of those that have been announced have been from the QAFL ranks.

Liam Jones massive signing for palmy

Has been one of the better players at AFL level and not at end of career - he will be a star. Agree
Won’t it all be in vain if he’s not vaccinated I would be very surprised if QAFL doesn’t enforce double vaccination rule. There will be kids who are part of NAB League and on Suns top up list as well as Southport that to have to be vaccinated
