Any ideas of how many points Payne and Eagle will be for grange, will they be charged 2 points for playing against Aspley making them 7 points each. Looks like Beamer will need a calculator to add up the points as all the Darwin players are 4 pointers. But we’ll done to the club on trying to improve and shut up some of the Grange Bigfooty haters.

I would have Grange sitting around 5th to 7th with the following teams pushing them for a finals spot

Broadbeach
Labrador
Redlands
Palm Beach
Aspley
Surfers
Magpies

NTFL might only be 4 points, also depends where else those guys have played footy in last few years as some could be 5.

Payne and Eagles would be 5, doubt they get the 2 point penalty due to it being a different comp.

Even if Darwin blokes are 6 x 4, then Payne and Eagles 5 each make 10. 8 players 34 points, you have 16 points left for the last 14 players, Grange will likely be no problems achieving that. Lanthois would be 1 or 2 points.

No new player will be a 1 unless they are a returning junior and Lanthois is a Maroochydore junior correct?
so he would be 2 if under 20 before Jan 1st 2022 which I think he is so he will be a 4 point player as he will get 2 points for playing against his old club.

nah, there is a sneaky clause in the rules.

Rising star eligible players and premium players don't attract the 2 point penalty for playing against their old club.

so if you are 5 or more, or under 20 - no penalty.

Sort of defeats the purpose of the rule, as you would think the rule is designed to prevent the poaching of these exact players!

Hows Lanthois 2? Will be 4 pts I reckon - 2 + 2 for playing against previous club.

Its a ridiculous rule/loophole, but definitely correct as i had it clarified last year.

If you are riding star eligible, you can change clubs within QAFL without the penalty

If you are a premium player (5 points or more) you also don't have penalty applied.

Makes no sense at all, as one would think these are the two most likely categories of player to be targeted for poaching that the rule is seeking to prevent, literally may as well just remove the rule altogether.

A guy who is 25 and played maybe 10 games of senior footy in 2 seasons can't move because he is a 6 pointer, even if he more for opportunity or to be at a club ckoser to home. But a gun 100 gamer from the VFL who is worth 5 can go to the highest bidder without penalty and end up with a lower point value than the "journeyman" who is essentially now stuck.

Agree Thommo . the clubs were asked for feedback about the rules etc so it’s something that could be changed

Its not a rule that was immediately obvious and is only covered by a small asterix* on the flow chart.

I read it back to front looking for the loophole late last year until Bilko pointed it out.
