Seeing photos of the very wet Sherwood and Surfers game last week showed me how massive Ellis-Yoman and Zac Smith are!
Pre covid, I’d probably say having 3 ex-AFL players (as Surfers also have Hugh Greenwood) was almost enough to get you to the last dance in September, or at least deep into finals. But with RVP and Aspley back in the fold, it’s really driven the standards of all teams to be more successful and brought the QAFL comp to a higher standard.
but then you look at the pre season game where they played UQ and beat them by 60 in both seniors and reserves, it's a confidence thing, i also watched the game and all they need is a big forward to kick to in my opinion - also noting fletcher clare who is arguably one of the cleanest footballers in the league wasn't playing again today. dropping them will only make the club go backwards. i had a look at the players on PlayHQ and most of them are 21 or younger, so give them a few years to mature and they will be strong again every club goes through slumps. just the vultures are worse then others.watched the VAultures vs Sherwood today. Honestly , the VULTURES need to be in the lower division.
Not knocing them as the players go as hard as they can on the field but the list quality is just miles away from the other clubs.

Yeah I was at this one. Credit to Maroochy, they kept coming- really only a gap at the start of the third that separated the teams - That fella Ryan Carter number 26 the Hornets have playing for them is a FIFO worker is a gun took some big marks, not sure how many more games he’s available for agree on Dawso, starting to hit his straps, Stacks is seeing them like absolute beach balls at the moment with another 8 … Not sure Wolbers will play next week, a late bump might see some Match Review trouble - big crowd at Graham Rd, Maroochy bought a lot of support down the Bruce, helps with the girls playing too I guessMuch improved effort by Aspley to beat Maroochydore today, led by unsung heroes in ball-getters Tom Templeton and Joel Leahy, with stand-out games from Connor Stackelberg and Ryan Banks-Smith. Daine Macdonald played the best game I've seen him play for Aspley, and Liam Dawson showed glimpses of the form that got him BOG in the 2022 and 2023 grand finals. The team realised it had to focus on basics, and did, but there was some sloppy play inside attacking 50, and silly free kicks given away. Maroochydore brought their best, ran onto the ball hard until the end, and would have won if Stacky had been off target. Some dropped marks cost them.
If they played either Mayne or UQ now they would lose. You cannot guage on a preseason game. Looking at UQ’s best side compared to when they played the practice game it’s vastly different.but then you look at the pre season game where they played UQ and beat them by 60 in both seniors and reserves, it's a confidence thing, i also watched the game and all they need is a big forward to kick to in my opinion - also noting fletcher clare who is arguably one of the cleanest footballers in the league wasn't playing again today. dropping them will only make the club go backwards. i had a look at the players on PlayHQ and most of them are 21 or younger, so give them a few years to mature and they will be strong again every club goes through slumps. just the vultures are worse then others.
Think they would struggle to play finals in Div 1 to be perfectly honest. If they played either Mayne or UQ now they would lose. You cannot guage on a preseason game. Looking at UQ’s best side compared to when they played the practice game it’s vastly different.
Your totally correct, and i may be a bit biased because i've been around the vultures since there glory days and i still think we're the club we used to be but honestly we aren't and everyone knows that, it just makes me upset knowing that the vultures future is not looking bright - this is for everyone, from your point of view what do you think the vultures do to see success in the near future, do they drop to div 1 loose everyone and everything or do they push through it and potentially see a bright side a long way through the track? If they played either Mayne or UQ now they would lose. Respect tour comments and the fact you are a supporter. IMO they have to frop a division , be competitive and win some games. Its to hard to attract good players when a club hasnt won a game since 2023,,, Just how long will players stick around when getting belted every week,,,they wont , so better to drop a division with the chance of being very competitive and you have a good chance of player retention...look at Sangate , took a coulpe oy years but won the flag in 2024Your totally correct, and i may be a bit biased because i've been around the vultures since there glory days and i still think we're the club we used to be but honestly we aren't and everyone knows that, it just makes me upset knowing that the vultures future is not looking bright - this is for everyone, from your point of view what do you think the vultures do to see success in the near future, do they drop to div 1 loose everyone and everything or do they push through it and potentially see a bright side a long way through the track?
